I went last year and to be honest it was quite lame. Not even worth the $3.50. Any worthwile booths had lines as long as a special event at the Guvt just to hand them your resume! There's no way I'm waiting 45 mins (which was what some people had been waiting) to drop off my resume along with 3000 other people. The resume consultation lines were just as bad so basically ended up walking around looking at a bunch of half assed booths that were all no-name companies anyway. The cops had a booth and some model agency which was the only one I enjoyed since they had some hot models working it Other than that I found it to be a complete waste of time. Others I talked to felt the same. Not sure if this year will be different but I doubt it.

Well, either people didn't take me seriously or they didn't know what I was talking about - these events usually tend to be pretty choked up with companies like Primerica, Vector Marketing, etc. Basically these companies are always on the lookout for more workers because (a) they can hardly get any, and (b) labour for them is cheap because they pay just on commission, or some ridiculously low salary plus commission. Even though they're legit companies, they feel very "scammy" when you deal with them.

There are always some good companies, of course, but like Trigger said, there's an insane amount of competition for them, so it's hardly even worth it.

I personally do not recommend going unless you're very desperate or fresh out of high school (or still in high school).

wells ... if one is unemployed, and sitting around at home doing nothing ANYWAYS .. then hey why not go!

(not to say this is me, but ya get the point ..)

well their listing the exhibitors today, or so the website says.. not yet as of right now though (i just checked) should be interesting once we find out.. I gotta get my resume ready.. the only problem realy is.. is that i've had so many different kinds and levels of education and different kinds of jobs that i'm not exactly sure where I fit in. I'm sure i'd be much over qualified for some jobs.. and much under qualified for others.. BLAH!

Vector is the absolute worst company to work for.....i worked for them...a few yrs ago....they were sooo concerned about sales....they tell you oversell your own family.....that's wrong and just stupid. So I quit that job....I dunno if I will go down there...i got a job interview tomorrow and the day after....so we shall see.

Well, when I said sucked I just meant that the job fields were extremely limited to mostly blue collar jobs.

And if we have trouble finding models, we can always put up countless photoshopped pictures of partyprincess.

AND SO IS THIS ONE
I went today @ 11am, I was standing in a line which turned out to be a spiral line LOL, after going in I said to myself WTF is this? It was soooooo small, overpacked and there was like 1-2 IT Jobs only...
Waste of time if you ask me

Posted by TranceKitten on Sep-18-2003 04:16:

I was gonna go there today but for some reason decided to check the list of companies in the morning, I meant checking last nite but forgot about it...anyways, by the companies that were going to be there I knew not many IT jobs would be offered, they had a lot of IT spokespeople(is that even a wrd?lol) but that doesn't do any good to me....So I decided not to go
I'm looking into applying at the new Guelph-Humber for IT jobs, they have some at the moment. Pay is not great tho, remember this is for students but right now I just want something chilled and I don't need much atm, I'll call it my partying stash of dough for the fall.
