Smiley DJ Sasha - Essential Mix Live @ Creamfields 2003, UK 08.24.03

By far the best mix I've heard in a year. Finally a decent set to spark my interest in trance again.

Here's the tracklist:

Chable & Bonnici - Ride [Alternative Route]
Disco Evangelists - De Nero (Double Funk Remix) [White Label]
Alex Dolby - Psiko Garden (Sasha Re-edit) [Mantra Vibes]
Bubble Audio Workx - Two Months Off (Greek Salad's Cheeky Mix) [Junior]
Dirty Bass - Emotional Soundscape [Dirty Blue]
Moguai - U Know Y (Starecase Remix) [Hope]
Unkle - In A State (Sasha Edit) [Island/Universal]
Dave Gahan - Dirty Sticky Floors (Junkie XL Dub) [Mute]
Maurice & Noble - Hoochie Koochie Man [Yoshitoshi]
M.A.N.D.Y - No Stoppin [Physical] <- this is played by Tong according to R1's site

Thanks Spective.

Word brotha.

And you wonder why I could never go back to Tiesto...

That Glasonbury set is every bit as good as GU 13 cd1 or Northern Exposure 2.

oh shut up they're different, different sounds, different vibes. sasha is more sophisticated just like he has always been. no news there.

I just realized my sentence made little sense. It should be:

"And you wonder why I could never go back to Tiesto."

So much for proofreading.

p.s. Get these if you haven't already Pio:

Hernan Cattaneo - Kiss 100 (July-25-2003)

Satoshi Tomiie - MOS Session (09-13-03)

Satoshi Tomiie @ Global DJ Broadcast (04-28-2003)

Ace.

I didn't notice that he played his own mix on the essential mix. I'll have to listen to that set again because I've only heard it twice on radio one.

I dare to dis-agree. It's a good set don't get me wrong but look @ what he's playing and on what date. This is SASHA here, one of the world's best djs. Looking @ the track list, he's not really bring anything new to the table. The only track I hadn't heard was the new Luke Chable track. Sasha would get I'd say @ least 50 new tracks a week. FFS Armin, Diggers, J00f all manage to get about 10 tracks they air a week, surely Sasha could of brought out more then 1 new track in the set.

It's far from fresh and revolotionary like GU13 or NE2 are. They are LIFE CHANGE cd's. This set was dated when he spun it. Quite annoying, the mixing is as good as expected, but the tracklist is nothing no one couldn't do @ home. We can all own those tracks (except for Ride).

translation: "why not? cattaneo is famous worlwide "

hmm... because everytime I hear someone from Argentina is known worldwide is usually BS, as whenever I ask about him/her elsewhere is pretty much a nobody from nowhere .

Back into the main topic...
I agree with djway, the mix is great, but are no new stuff in it.
I love it anyway ^^, and I wish I was there

I doubt it is a edited version! imo he just used a effect of the Pioneer FX grear had next to him.

He played last saturday here on Buenos Aires @ Pacha... and I missed it

Last time I checked his site he was touring in Asia, I thought he wouldn't come for Spring Day (we celebrate 21/11 a lot here in Argentina)... my bad for not checking his site frequently .

I don't have a cue for the sasha set, but I do have a playlist for Hernan's set:

http://www.tranceaddict.com/forums/...hernan+cattaneo

I also highly recommend this set that that is available at DJmixes2K:

quote:
Markus Schulz_Oslo_Nights_September-2003

01. Markus Schulz presents Elevation - Clear Blue
02. Peter Martin - Perfect Wave
03. Lili Hayden - Anything (Gabriel and Dresden E String Mix)
04. Attention Deficit - What?
05. General Midi - Further
06. Paul Van Dyk - Connected (Markus Schulz Reconstruction)
07. Pinkbox Special - Simple
08. James Talk - Eggs Are Cute (Original Mix)
09. Jewel - Stand (Markus Schulz Coldharbour Remix)

Simply amazing.

Yeah actually you're pretty much right. I hadn't been following Sasha that much before as you probably have. A -lot of the tracks he's been playing are pretty dated. I was very impressed with Pete Tong's portion of that essential mix though. Quality stuff!
