Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas

Has anyone seen this movie ?? I got it on DVD today and I still cant stop laughing, the fuckin' movie is awesome!
Kinda shows to the non-drug people there what LSD and Acid is like.

Posted by Fast Turtle on Sep-17-2003 03:17:

LSD and acid are the same thing, my friend.

great movie. i was impressed by how true it stayed to the book. if you haven't read the book, you really should. it's very easy to read.

there is a lot in the movie that makes me lmao, but some of it bugs me out a bit...

WHATS DAAAAAAAA TROOOOOOUBBBBLE....ALL THIS WHITE STUFF ON MY SLEEVE...IT'S LSD

We had two bags of grass, seventy-five pellets of mescaline, five sheets of high-powered blotter acid, a saltshaker half-full of cocaine, and a whole galaxy of uppers, downers, laughers, screamers... Also, a quart of tequila, a quart of rum, a case of beer, a pint of raw ether, and two dozen amyls. Not that we needed all that for the trip, but once you get into a serious drug collection, the tendency is to push it as far as you can. The only thing that really worried me was the ether. There is nothing in the world more helpless and irresponsible and depraved than a man in the depths of an ether binge, and I knew we'd get into that rotten stuff pretty soon.

Good flick.

There is also a movie from the 1980 "Where the Buffalo Roam" where Bill Murray plays Hunter S. Thompson (does a very good job too).

I have not seen the whole movie but the openeing sequence alone is brillant.

Try watching:

"Where The Buffalo Roam"

it's an older (and more obscure) version of Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas which casts Bill Murray as Hunter S. Thompson instead of the less comedic Johnny Depp. Overall it's not nearly as polished as the newer version, but I think that Peter Boyle portrays a much better Lazlo than does Benicio Del Toro.

Just my opinion.

i've had roadtrips like that....

anyway, i agree it is a fabulous movie and i have been meaning to read the book for ages. when i first watched it i found it really entertaining. but when you think about the message it is sending it is really kind of depressing and hopeless....
