Hello! How Long Has Everyone Been Listening To Trance Or Any Electronical Music?

I am Asking this because i have been reading a post about best trance ever & stuff about being disapointed because dj's play classics that are in my book not really even classics in age wise. I was hoping would post stuff pre 1998. This is what is leading me to ask this question.

Electronic music started for me since about 1986 or so, a few of the first tracks i heard back then were Jean-Michel Jarre - Oxygene, Kraftwerk - Autobahn,..

More trancy tunes came along in early 90s, with Orbital - Halcyon, Zyon - No Fate for example. I have always liked and still do like many other styles too, like breakz, prog, house and of trance i prefer older trance instead of the current tunes. This mainly because older ones just have more originality IMO.

ok i can relate more yeah i think so also......... just curious.

Is there a site that lists all old trance acts prior to 1998??

I would love to get my hands on those records again.......

I forgot to add casper pound to my fav list of old timers

aaahhhhhh originality.

But i do think there is some really good trance comming out still....... u just have to look harder.
But i agree i love every other style of electronica also.

Me too I was about 9 or 10 at that time. Good old days, listening to Houseparty or some Turn Up The Bass cd

Art of Noise around '87 or '88. Then it was The Orb, and Orbital.

Since 98 or 99 I believe

late '99 i got started.. but i'd say 2001-2002 was when i really got into it

Since September 1999. That is when pretty much everything started for me. First rave, first time dropping, first time being exposed to trance, etc...

Posted by Pareez on Sep-17-2003 16:29:

Since....

The Shrink - Nervous Breakdown so I would say around '97 or '98. I would say I really got into Trance around '98, '99.

First electronic music I've ever really listened to was The Orb... Back in 1995/6 or so. Then, my friend The_Rock introduced me to house music in 1997 and it all took off from there! First trancey stuff I really liked was PVD-For An Angel, Veracocha-Carte Blanche, Gouryella-Gouryella

Since summer of 1998 first dj i saw was Esp Woody Mcbride.

Posted by TOR on Sep-17-2003 16:42:

it all started with eurodance (felix, leila k., 2 unlimited, ...) and i gradually moved on to techno and hardcore.. i've been into trance since 1997 with yves deruyter - the rebel, carlos - the silmarillia, etc.

Posted by djVersus on Sep-17-2003 16:48:

it started in the early 80's with classic euro disco/dance, never really got into the 90's eurodance stuff.

got into trance electronic in 1998, wow has it been 5 years already?

I first heard trance (ATB Don't Stop in a 25 minute mix with PvD, BT, and Alice Deejay) back in the old napster days (around christmas 99), when a friend told me to download The DJ Special K set thing to see what it was like, and i got hooked. Never looked back since

I first discovered the early German trance in 1993 when I was 12, but never really got into it till I got Cosmic Baby's album titled "Thinking About Myself" and a compilation titled "Logic Trance 2" in late 1994 that I started to develop a huge passion to it. However, in April 1995 Grace's "Not Over Yet" sent me down a different path of listening to lots of UK made stuff which Oakenfold spun and such.

I'm old school!

Dam I've been listening to the stuff since like 1990. Back when dance mixes were cool and chris sheppeard started kicking ass. lol In 1997 I started to notice a huge change where the music actually sounded good. No longer sounded like 2 tin cans banging eachother together but uplifting funky vibes. I'm hooked on trance for life now. There is no other kind of music that gives me chills when I'm stone sober and make me feel alive.

Felix, Snap etc. around 92 - then 2 unlimited a little later - discovered trance in '98 from Trancemaster 19. I still consider that album a kickass compilation.
