Dunno help setting up M3D's

I've been CD DJ'ing for a while, and I have finally scrapped up enough cash to get some Vinyl Tables. Well, I just got some used M3Ds and they turn on and play music just fine...they hold their speed blah blah blah, but i have to be holding the tone arm. If i let go of the tone arm, the arm more or less goes back to its resting position as if you werent using them. i tried adjusting the weight a bit, but is that my problem?

any suggestions are appreciated.

Ok, I'm assuming you have a proper cartridge mounted, and a record on the platter?

The tonearm should naturally return to (err, towards) the holder, assuming there is no record on the platter and the arm is balaced such that it floats level in air. the tendancy to return it a position is adjusted by the antiskate control. With the needle on a record, it should stay in the groove.

cart is mounted....on one of the tables, its fine...its only on one that is doing it...it feels like there is tension on the tone arm when i try to move it to play...it feels springy..the other one is free (the only words i can think of to describe it)

This sounds like Anti-skate. Make sure that the AntiSkate setting is the same as on the TT that is working OK. The Anti-skate is the litte nob by the lever that lift the tone arm up and down.

figured it out...there is this screw with a set screw on the swivel of the tone arm...i had to loosen the middle screw and then tighten the outer ring set screw...its working fine now
