Halcyon PUNK!!! Review

Well this was my first time to Halycon and i loved every minute of it, i got to meet some of the TAs like matt_a, lethal, S_Madis, Oli_A, webmeister and DJ_Ballistic...shame i couldn't meet the rest of the TAs, hopefully next time..

well Diggs & Morro owned me, their set was absolutely unbelievable, they played a few recognizable tracks that i could notice
Aalto - Rush (Super 8 Mix)
Signum - Push Through
Ferry Corsten - Punk (i knew this would get played )
Ferry Corsten - Rock your body rock

and some others, i'm bad at IDing

Liquid M were also someone that stood out, OMG so uplifting and so nice, definite future stars

and then Cameron comes out and threw some awesome songs but unfortunately i left around the 3rd song cause i had to work like 3 hours later.

Cam played
Motorcycle - As The Rush Comes (AVB Mix)
Insigma - Avalon (Midway Mix)

i left after Avalon but hopefully i'll stay the full set next time i don't have work..

Good job Cam and the rest, and see you at the next big event

OH Beemer, you lost your bet , hopefully i can meet you next time

Hopefully a better review can come later, i'm no good at these

Drunk

Yep Awsome night Psygnosis! Great to meet you man!

Well, it startyed for me outside again, meeting and greeting everyone as they made their way in. Eventually we went in, walked in to the pumping sounds of Lee Hardy vs Antonio Cabalfin.
Their set was awsome! So driving, and beat driven, and some of those basslines could melt diamond they were so hot! Top show from these guys. I can't remember any of their tunes apart from Aalto - Rush (Super 8 Mix) and an old track from a Gatecrasher album. Can't remember what it was called but great to hear the classics out and about.
Next it was Diggs and Morro's turn, From the moment these guys began, it was just quality! This is the first time Id heard a full det from them and it was awsome! No wonder these guys have played at Transmission and the like, brilliant.
Then after a few more drinks it was Liquid M live, which was great, some soaring synths, and big bass just filled the room with energy. Unfortunately they only played for 30 min, I would have loved to heard more
But then it was time for the Main Course! Cameron O'Shea! What a set. I'm sure all those that went will agree with me there. Awsome tunes! Perfect Mixing, (Cam none of us noticed one slip up man, it was brilliant!) and totally Uplifting. From those early sounds of Midway vs Motocycle - As the Rush Come (Armin Mix) to PvD feat Vega 4 - Time of Our Lives to Jose Amnesia - The Eternal (Pulsar Remix) right up to PvD feat Second Sun - Crush and the end it was an awsome set.

After Cam's we were buggered, so we just hung around for a while, heard Underworld - Born Slippy and headed off around 4:30am.

Thanks to all the TAs that represented again for an awsome night!
Oli, Joel, Lisa, Wade, Lee, Ballistic, Sid, Alli, Mehran, Bragi, Sel(sorry to hear about that incident Sel, hope you are ok! ), Morphee, Josh.
Hope to see you all again next time!

Great night !

nice to meet you Psygnosis and to all the other regular crew who were there, it was great to catch up with you as always !

Cam, what can I say ? Viframa - Cristalle (Katana ft dj precision mix "Cameron Oshea rework") was stunning ! best opener Ive ever heard. well done buddy you deserve all the credit you get, your mixing was spot on !

Well my highlight definately had to be Conjure one - Centre of the sun (JXL mix) ! what a track, one of the tracks of 03 ! and it absolutely went off on the gas sound system !

Anyways just about to jump into the shower and report for more gurning duties, as it is Pulser and GTR tonight ! hope to see you guys all down there

WHAT AN AWESOME NIGHT!!

shit what can i say about the night but whoa. to cam, first time ive heard you play and it was freakin awesome, top quality mixing, tracks were wicked and loved the energy behind the decks. i think every one of us was gettin into "time of our lives". i blew a few people out when i was singin "as the rush comes" to the people around the pool table.

liquid m was great and i remember just sittin there and singin out "lets rock, i wanna rock your body, rock" to the chick next to me haha

highlight of the night would have to be cosmicman - i love you (version 1.4). LOVE the classics

/edit mark killed it with his gurner routine..haha we were talkin for ages about shit

shout out to all i partied with matt, fush, sid, mark, joel, nathan, wade (finally), leigh, lisa, alli, sean, josh and whoever ive forgotten (im getting better though). the biggest shoutout has to go out to my homeboy psygnosis, man didnt i get the shock of my life when you showed up although , i was quite disappointed by your lack of representation during cams set, no emoticon can show what im feeling towards this. to sel, hope your ok and big ups to everyone that looked after her

lol

yeh i was spewing that i had to leave during Cams set (sorry Cam), the main reason i probably came was to meet the TA and support Cam...next TA meetup i'll full of emotion and the dance floor dancing...rather than at the bar nodding my head up and down dancing to the music..

Tell her Halcyon is once a month. Tell her to MAKE time for you (even if it requires travelling days 2 c u) over the other 29 days.

See you next month, Punk?

As I said in the other thread, amazing night

Posted by djway on Sep-21-2003 11:47:

Walking down the entrance of Gas, the very first track Lee Hardy dropped some really old 70's 7" record to welcome the punks to the floor before getting into the progressive trance with Antonio Cabalfin. A few head shakes all around @ the suitibility/funny-ness of the track, and how weird it sounds around the club hearing Punk not trance.

Unknown at the time, but talking to and hearing now, Diggs was dropping samples of Ferry Corsten - Punk in nearly every track until it was played.

AHAHAHAHAHAAHAH I kept going to Darkenrahl "Punk!!! cant you hear it" Mainly it was the "dun dun" two bar beat of the first build up of the cosmic gate remix, and i kept hearing it abour 4-5 tracks before they actaully dropped punk, and DR thought i was just getting anxious.

It's great to hear that another Halcyon went down well as expected.

Sel, I hope you are okay now. It's pretty scary to hear that such a thing happened. None of us would expect that it goes on at an event like this. The scary thing when this kind of thing happens is that you don't know what the substance is... you can only hope that it's not toxic or deadly, or intensely psychedelic. It's a lesson to all of us - we need to be careful and watch out for each other.

I had planned to go but had pretty poor sleep during the week and work was giving me the extreme shits all week, so I felt like I needed some peace and quiet to end the work week.

I would have loved to hear Cosmicman - I love you... I haven't heard it played out and I love the track so much. I hope to hear it played again some time. Cosmicman's stuff doesn't get played enough!

When is the next one? I need my trance fix!
I hope to see you guys again soon.

Posted by Beemer on Sep-21-2003 13:30:

I could barely hear what you were saying.

I kept thinking I could hear it all night to, cept I kept thinking I could hear a live audience going "do do doh doh doh" which obviously wasnt the case.

I had a fantastic night. I didn't hear a single bad track. The night just flowed so perfectly. Well done lads.
