Final Fantasy VII-2 ????

SPECULATE

omg aeris <3

edit: dug this up on gamespot, posted in may:

"On the possibility of a Final Fantasy VII-2, Nomura said that the chances of it happening are unrealistic. Nomura explained that Final Fantasy X-2 was able to be released since it utilized the Final Fantasy X engine, allowing production of the game in one year at only half the usual development scale of a Final Fantasy title. However, to make Final Fantasy VII-2, everything would most likely have to be created again from scratch since the data from the original Final Fantasy VII cannot be used. Thus, producing a Final Fantasy VII-2 would require the development scale of a normal Final Fantasy title. "

oh well, got my hopes up. For the best though, ff7 was a completed story

At the Tokyo Game Show which starts on friday (6 days) one the game's in Squaresoft's lineup is said to be a remake of FF7. Platform and specific details haven't been announced yet.

thats fuckin awsome...

btw, an ff7 remake would be much better than an actual continuity of the story. i thought that the ending of ff7 was fine as it was.

I concur

Anything they can do to fix the goofy ingame animation style would be great. I found the character animations to be a bit blah. I would have rather they kept the style like the old games using the squat figures until they could do the character rendering like in VIII or IX. Of course, I still enjoyed the game as a whole, though the materia thing was not my favorite system in the world. On another note...looks like I will have to break down and buy a PS2 soon....FF X is now 19.99. Sigh.

I read that Square would make a remake of VII and the difference was that Aerith wouldn't die in the story. But that was years ago and there was no money to make it because of the bad goings of the movie so they had to freeze the plans. But now finally they will say what the plans are now. A remake of a VII-2. Or maybe both.

I believe that in the japanese version of FFVII Aeris comes back in the end of the game, that is why there is one more of those little stones that everyone stands on at the end before Sephiroth.

Well, I don't know if it'll happen, but it would truly rock the world of videogames. The game is already a masterpiece, they just might not touch it afterall, afraid of screwing the whole series up. Although I highly doubt that would happen, considering I am that confident in Square-Enix.

If anyone remembers the ending, it was left wide open for speculation as to what happened. Did everyone die at the end? Did everyone survive? Holy was there to destroy EVERYTHING that would be a danger to the planet. Were the humans dangerous to the planet? If Holy did kill all the humans, atleast something's survived, Red XIII and his race survived obviously. Holy might never have considered Red XIII's race to be dangerous.

But if everyone survived, which I believe they all did, it leaves the ending wide open, for another sequal hopefully. Who knows, maybe Aeris is alive, she did appear after the Lifestream helped Holy out. I'm sure she got re-born! It was the only way, Holy and the Lifestream came together and brought her back.

I really hope a sequal is in store, but I doubt it'll be soon. A few years maybe. Can anyone say PlayStation 3?

U cant bring her back on any version of FF7, even the japanese one (the american version even has more features and aditional CG scenes than the japanese, that dont even has Emerald and Ruby Weapons).

The reason for that extra stone is cuz she was supposed to come back on the original plans for the game, actually some part of the quest to bring her back was programmed on the game and thats why u can see her ghost bkinking at the midgar church, u was suposed to talk to her there if u made her like u with that "who will like Cloud" quest, so she would be very atached to him and would ask him to do some quests that could make possible for her to come back.
That wasnt finished (as well as some other quests) due to release schedule...
Thats also the reason why u can see some Aeris' specific dialogs at the later parts of the game if u get her back on your party with gameshark.

Almost all square rpgs suffer from this, crhonno trigger had the Schala's menu picture with gameshark cuz she was supposed to join u, FFT also has many perfectly usable new class with lots of nem magics (some with WONDERFUL graphics) that never appears on the game for the same reason (again, only available with gameshark)...

Thats a pity, but the games cant aways be all that the creators imagined due to time/money limitations

Actually if you catch the tiny subtile details of the FF7 story hidden throughout the game, you know that a) Humans survived, and b) Aeris comes back to life at the very end

happy ending

(for all the games answers, read this: its long but dont skip through it)

ok, seriously, FF7 was one of the top 3 worst endings EVER. and i really dont understand how people could have been happy with it.

had it been a SNES or NES rpg, i can see how having such a short, unfulfilling, unrealistic ending might be acceptable.. but not for FF7. not only do we not see anything that happens to any of the characters, but then they waste the time showing RED 13 with children? Maybe I'm missing something, but wasn't he the last of his kind? How was that even possible?

LAME.

Am gessing you did not fully understand the game?

..such as?

Posted by Remy D on Sep-25-2003 18:48:

Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children is gonna be a movie!!!! With graphics like Spirits within. So it's not a game. And that's to bad. A movie is really nice too but imo was a remake one of the most wonderfull things could happen in the game industry.

Posted by fuct4less on Sep-25-2003 23:40:

well even though we all hope this is real, it most likely isnt:

Posted by sothis on Sep-25-2003 23:53:

now that you pointed that out, what a blatant photoshop job.

a lot of websites out there need to fix their info, fast.. cause now its obviously a hoax.

There are strong rumors that an FF7 "sequel" will be coming out for the PSP as one of the launch titles. I think that would pretty much cement that system as a "must buy" for a LOT of people if it ever came out. Oh well... November 19 they're gonna officially announce the game. www.ff12.com has a small teaser flash video up. Rumors are going that it's gonna involve interplanetary travel and have a more Tactics like battle system, since the producer of FF Tactics is producing it.

If you looked well you could see that the sequel is gonna be a movie on DVD!!!!

Posted by nrjizer on Sep-26-2003 23:02:

"Square Enix has officially confirmed the sequel and a few details are now known. This will be released in the form of a 60-minute DVD movie. The feature is being developed internally by Square Enix by production team 1 headed by Yoshinori Kitase - and should help in re-united a lot of the original Final Fantasy VII cast. The new title deals with a threat to peace in the world of Final Fantasy VII, as Cloud must face something called Star Scar Syndrome. More details as they become available.... "
