CDJ Advice
Hello,
My question is about CD decks. I've had my turntables for around... oh I dunno 8 - 12 months or so, and it's been great. However, horror has struck! I'm currently a senior at HS, and I started DJing the dances last year and such. (Simple hiphop/r'n'b/slow song stuff
) We've been using rented equipment and as such it's been, well, pretty high cost.
So our beloved Student Council decided it would be in their best interests to hire out. So they did, and well, I listened to this guys and was... not impressed. They didn't know their discs well (*hell* of alot of unedits, which I wouldn't mind personally, but it's kinda unprofessional
), didn't 'understand' our school ("*omg* it's not hiphop wtf") and somehow overloaded their setup at one point.
The point of this? I've always wanted to have a little set of CD decks to play around with, I have the money (thank god for wellpaying fulltime summer jobs
) and now I have a bit more reason to. It'll certainly cut down rental cost, and perhaps I'll get back these dances and be able to show my school a little bit of the good ol' trance.
So what CD decks would you guys suggest? I've decided that I definitely would like looping abilities, I just feel there's so many creative uses for that. Besides that I'm not really picky. Double, single, no difference. As for price range, I'd *like* to keep it below $1400 CDN (so about... 1000 or so American?).
Any suggestions?
Thanks,

denon 2600f or if you can find them the 2100s are very similar and a bit cheaper
For Dual decks: Without a doubt, the Pioneer CMX-3000. Great unit. Awesome intuitive layout, very simple to use. Best pitch resolution of all the duals out there @ 0.05%, CD text, Wave form display, 1000cd memory and a great emergency loop feature that can save your ass from embarrassment (like when you pay too much attention on sweatin the honeys instead of mixing).
Denons! They're so sexy.
the pioneers look good too, i've never used them but i've heard good things. either way you cant really go wrong. denon or pioneer are probably the only two brands i would buy. i have a set of older numarks, and they are ok, but for $1000 denon or pioneer all the way

As for CDJ, Denon is the way to go... the DN-S5000 are firmware upgradable and support mp3 playback, unlike the Pioneer's.
Does anyone use search, wtf? God knows how many threads there are about this.
My apologies Vlad. However, I'm pretty sure the new Denon's don't come in under $1000 US. :P That's the only reason I created a new thread, to see how many pennies I could squeeze.
However, I talked with the guys down in the shop, and this weekend I'm going to rent the DN-4000 from them. MP3 playback and all the goodies, see how I like it. $40, can't go wrong.

Yup!
Found out today when I went to Sherwood that I can get DN-4000's for exactly $1000 CDN.
Going to test them out this weekend, see if they do it for me. Thanks for the advice guys, here's hoping.

If you have no problem with individual decks, what's wrong with a pair of Pioneer CDJ 100s? Theyll only set you back $600 USD

Woah man, calm down.
Here's the general pyschology of my school - they don't like anything they haven't heard before. Therefore, if I 'give up' one song to trance each time, they'll slowly get more comfortable with the music. As long as it isn't over done, they don't mind - it's the same with everything. I don't like country, but I can take it in small doses. More than anything though, that was just a joke though.
Perhaps I should do something along the lines of [joke] [/joke] next time though.
