Did anybody see Underworld?

Anybody see the new movie "Underworld" this weekend? If so, how did you like it?

yeah i saw it, just thought that they could elaborate on many parts of the movie. it left me all confused and i had no idea who was who at the end of the movie let alone the start. fight scenes were pretty cool.

Read the book version. It's called Vampire: The Masquarade

Heh.. my friend had his birthday party on opening night, and he said they were going to go see it. so he says to me "Hey, we're going to see Underworld, wanna go?" And I, thinking he meant we were gonna go see Underworld perform, Born Slippy, Push Upstairs kinda thing, said "Hell YES!" sooo we get to the movie theater and i was kinda confused. Disappointed also. Good movie, though.

"Vampire: The Masquarade "

i have the game of that, dunno if related.

i still have yet to see this film but from the trailer it looks cool.

my friend saw it and said it was awesome.

Dunno

I saw it on opening night. I don't understand why everyone is saying the story is confusing...I understood it perfectly.

There is most likely going to be a sequel as well. The werewolfs could have looked a little better and they could have showed the transformation in more than one angle (which was just recycled throughout the movie).

.

The story line was pretty cool, but the fight scenes and pretty much the movie in general sucked in my opinion.

And you're soooo right about the werewolves

Yes it is indeed the same. The game is based on the book Vampire: Masquarade of Red Death i believe, published by the good old White Wolf...

BTW the movie sucked ass

Posted by Turbonium on Oct-11-2003 02:48:

The movie had potential to be more, but it turned out decent. Some of the scenes were sweet, but some sucked.

Whatever though, it was good. Reminded me of the dark side even I have somewhere deep inside.

btw, Kate Beckinsale looked incredibly sexy in the movie, like wow.

how come nobody mentioned how it rips off the matrix? were the ripoff scenes good-looking? was the plot philosophical at least a little bit?

Posted by capricorn15 on Oct-11-2003 03:35:

i saw it, i thought it was pretty good, but my image of vampires is how anne rice describes them. i read her vampire books 1-5 (interview w/ the vampire to memnock the devil). since i think of vampire the way she describes them, the ones in this movie were kind of weak. hehe, either way it was pretty cool

I hope its better than Reloaded.

Quit watching commercials/trailers and see the damn movie before you start being a critic. LAME

The plot, think of Romeo & Juliet meet Werewolves & Vampires. With sort of a plot twist toward the end.

Posted by TwoPlow on Oct-11-2003 05:12:

It was fucking TERRIBLE. The plot was completely incoherant, the characters were really weak, the acting was lame, the entire thing was very predictable, and it was just generally bad. The Vampires did nothing even slightly vampire-ish, other than have teeth. The Werewolves were a bit cool, with the transformations and all, but in general, it just sucked.

To sum it all up, I like a movie with at least a small helping of intelectual value. This movie was completely lacking in that, and didn't even make it up with cool fight scenes or anything. It's only reedeming factor was Kate Beckinsale, and her trenchcoat.

a trailer says a lot about a movie, and i have almost never been wrong about a movie by judging its trailer.

in this case i distinctly saw matrix-style scenes and matrix-style lighting effects. and romeo & juliet meet werewolves and vampires with a plot twist at the end sounds pretty lame to me.

Beckinsale is damn fine. The movie was really disappointing for me tho. It looked so cool and got decent reviews from respectable newspapers and the like, but it did suck a bit.

Posted by Typhoon on Oct-11-2003 19:45:

I saw about a week ago. It was OK but could have been a lot better. I think the characters were not as prominent as they should have been. The movie just didn't get you to care enough for them.

The only "matrix-style scenes" I can recall was the one where they were in an apartment hi-rise and Kate Beckinsale was shooting her guns in a circle to shoot out the floor and then fell to the level below.

Which was blasted all over the TV and trailer. So calling the entire movie a "matrix ripoff" isn't really fair.
