The site's been temporarily closed for quite a while now... I'm thinking it might be dead and buried...

Posted by TeKnoHe@d2025 on Jul-04-2001 19:24:

Yeah, I went there just before it closed and it said something about he had to close it for awhile. LoL, I can already imagine the responses this thread is going to get

No, I can categorically say that it definately isn't dead.

That site, the **** rekons every track is sick, and u end up downloading all this crap... im sure alot of ppl will agree, and does hust your eyes, also takes u 2 hrs to get into the mother ******... well i think ive bagged it enough... =P are some ok trax in there... Peace..

Posted by Xavier on Jul-08-2001 10:12:

well I agree it took so long to get into the site, but I got use to it, though www.homeofmusic.com was the best site ever. I recently got cable and it was just the wrong time to close for me. I use to like tranceaddict better but www.homeofmusic.com had more trance and didnt have that much deadlinks.

I think it is a brilliant site, and the guy works his ass off to make all these tunes available to ungratefull people like you who complain about his sites colour? The only problem ive ever had with it was that the reviews where a bit patchy, almost always using the terms "sweet tune" and "i like this".But hey thats a tiny niggle,dj rrebel, get this site back man!good luck!

Posted by Romp on Jul-08-2001 10:49:

I think that place was the most difficult site to navigate that I've ever been to in my life. And the colour scheme!

Did have some good tunes though and its always sad to see a site go under, if it is. Hopefully they are just redesigining it to be more user friendly

I think that this is the third thread that I've had to defend HoM now, and every time the same arguments come up. Well I'm not going to bother with them this time, if you don't like it then don't go there, I'm not overly concerned.

What I do object to, however, is the personal criticisms that some of you are making on DJ Rrebel. The man is providing you with dozens of gigabytes of tracks and all you can do is throw it back in his face by winging about the colour scheme or the review system. Does he owe you anything? Does he have to upload 4 tracks a day for no other reason than because he wants to share his passion for club music with everyone else? What right do you think you have to criticise him?

Like I said before, if you don't like it then just don't go there. Just don't insult us all and waste our time by sprouting cliched and - above all - misinformed abuse towards one of the most selfless people I know.

True :-)

I understand where you are coming from. I don't mind navigating the site, but it is not very user-friendly. In fact, it's very intimidating for less-than-savy net surfers out there. I'd figure with the user base he has in the forums, I thought someone, good enough in web design, would give his place a facelift. If he just use drop-down menus, it would unclutter his page up alot. It's not even that hard to do, unless he has very little time to re-engineer his site. Hmmm, I'm half tempted to volunteer. heh

Props for his tremendous effort and good heart, though.

Posted by Renegade on Jul-08-2001 11:52:

Yep, don't get me wrong, constructive criticism is a good thing, I don't mind people putting forward judgements like that at all. Hell, if I was king for a day there'd be a few things I would change about the site as well.

But, the point is, whatever gripes you have with the site, you at least owe DJ Rrebel some respect for the effort he's put in, and not enough people have been willing to grant him that, they've been too focused on the (relatively superficial) faults that the site has.

Posted by Xavier on Jul-08-2001 12:12:

seriously I loved Homeofmusic, and it had to be my favourite site to get trance, I'm just regretting that I didnt d/load all mp3z from there than I should of, everytime I log on the net,the first thing I do is that I look if www.homeofmusic.com has came back, DJRebel had the greatest trance site, despite the fact he had other types of club music as well, truly homeofmusic should of been called heavenofmusic, and DJ Rrebel was a saint. homeofmusic should was his life and he worked like their was no tomorrow. Did you know that he had a forum & reviews for every single mp3 that he posted? from October 1999 till June 2001!!!!!! Who would bother to do that? No one!

Saint DJ Rrebel- "Patron saint of club music sites"

You're a tard mate...do you always get around with language like that? RRebel is not a "****" And he has done more than you ever have for the music community, so take your poxy views elsewhere.

Im sure he has done more the music community than me, but its not what u can do for the music community, its what the music community can do 4 u. And how do u feel after u have downloaded a track with a 56k modem, then found it out 2 be an ordinary track after some one has described it to be sweet and brilliant??

That's just your bad luck! I DL 4-6GB of stuff a month on a 56k modem and if I don't like it I don't care, I just delete it. You should be able to know if a track is half good or not by at least knowing what the artist is capable of...I admit he may go a little over the top, but it's hardly worth bitching about...RRebel posted HIS views on the track not yours, so if you didn't happen to like the track, well I guess he can't please everyone can he?

Posted by SeeK on Jul-08-2001 12:58:

Well i guess me n him dont have the same taste.
Thats my point if view...

Posted by da_MynDLesS_one on Jul-08-2001 20:39:

Not to bash the site some more, but it's not just the colour scheme that needs work...
There's loads of text everywhere, explaining every little detail of every little part of the site. There's just too much to the site, plain and simple. If it's home of music, why not make it strictly a music site? There are tons of other things like how to make money and stuff like that. Plus all of the stuff RRebel talked about wanting to do in their forums a couple of weeks back sounds like it's gonna clutter up the site even more. If you're gonna call it homeofmusic.com, stick to music.

IMHO, anyway

Oh, and Renegade: Are u a part of homeofmusic? It seems like you have some pretty strong opinions about it...

Posted by j_spot on Jul-08-2001 21:17:

HoM had music? Man I wouldnt know, could never find tha shit! Ive been told it had tons and tons and tons of stuff...but it was not worth the time to read tiny ass print that reminds of the BBS days.

I guess if you don't have a good background in web design, you won't be able to visually dismantle the chaos of HOM and be able to navigate it. But if your brave and willing, you'll get used the quirkiness in no time.

His colors schemes are hard on the eyes.

Posted by yujie__ on Jul-09-2001 00:44:

HoM color scheme and layout are distracting for hand & eye coordination movement. there were so many small fine prints, i couldnt even read. sometimes the guy talks like, u didnt know it was who who produced that track. i think it is disgrace to every trance site.

I don't know what planet your TranceAddict.com is on, but the one on the planet I'm on doesn't have any dead links.

HOM has a lot of music, yes, but the excessive 'begging' for clicks throughout the site is tiresome - and having the forums located on 'HomeOfMoney.com' makes you wonder... They regularly stripped out all details pertaining to the MP3 group that released a track and instead threw their URL on practically every line of the ID3 tag.. I don't know if they still did it but up until a few months ago that was the case... No respect for that.
