i cut the connecting piece one the headphones that i wanna hear through and i cut the headphones off the one that i wanna connect to make longer
so here is what i have now:
the one with the head phones on one end has 1 black plastic covering or whatever u call it, i stripped that wire and in it is 3 wires: gold, red, and blue
the second headphone set, which is the one with the connecter on one end and no headphones on the other has two black plastic coverings. in one of the black covering that i stripped is green and gold coloured wires, and the second black covering that i stripped is the colours gold and red
so how do i connect these wires so that i can have sound through the headphones?
i tried a lot ways but nothing really worked, please help
thanx a lot

Why the hell did you cut it when you could of got a female extention to connect the two wires together? making life too hard for yourself there. Your local Radio Shit would of had it.

yes the radio shack would have been the best bet but your in too deep now so I will help you.
1) take the striped ends of the wires and rub them with sandpaper. Most headphone wires are covered in a varnish so you have to remove it. Next dip the striped ends in rubbing alchol. (alternate method is to use a lighter to melt off the varnish).
2) Let the wires dry.
3) Remove the plastic insides of the wire
4) Take your soldering iron and place the iron under the striped end and place the solder on the top. Wait until the solder has penitrated through the wire then remove. Repeat for each wire.
IF YOU DONT HAVE A SOLDERING IRON TROW ALL THIS CRAP OUT NOW AND GO BY SOME HEADPHONES FROM RADIOSHACK WITH A LONG CORD. ITS GOING TO SOUND LIKE CRAP IF YOU DONT SOLDER.
5) Twist together the 3 gold wires. Solder them together. Now put electrical tape around the 3 wires.
6) do the same as step 5 but with the blue and green wire.
7) do the same as step 5 but with the red wires.
8) tape up the whole thing.
Yah you just saved $2 and destroyed 2 pairs of perfectly good headphones. They will work like this but they wont be as good as they where.
