Review: Dj A-Trak @ Copper Lounge

I doubt any TA's made it out to this one due to the fact that
1.) it was in Hamilton
2.) there was a lot of options in Toronto lastnight.

But holy shit you guys missed an eye popping performance!!!!! This guy is Canada's most talented dj hands down, and i think hes like 20 years old. Spinning mostly hip hop lastnight, he kept the crowd jumping bringing out old classics like Meth's "Release Yo Delf", even a lil MJ "Wanna Be Startin Somethin"!!!! SICK!!! He had a crazy ass set up where at the tap of a pedal, he could record a loop/sample...and right before out eyes, he was layering scratches with effects and scratching to records AT THE SAME TIME. It was truly amazing to see the control this guy had over every sound coming out of the speakers. One of the most insane moments in the night was when he created an almost jungle sound by speeding up Missy's "Get Your Freak On" and adding FX, all the while battle scratching on two records and using his effects effortlessly. He was supposed to spin for an hour and a bit, but stayed on for double that.....he knew the crowd wanted more. I totally recommend seeing this guy even if your not into hiphip, if you spin records, youll appretiate what this guy can do. Great night, AMAZING SET. I hope to hear a review sometime today from Tyson, and tomEboy......

A-trak is dope .. he won the DMC at 15 .. 15 YEARS OLD!

Hes is also the only DJ in the history of turntablism to earn the "triple crown" (the 3 main titles)......and he did that at the ripe age of 17!! And he retired his "battling" career before hitting 20.
