godskitchen: perth .. thoughts?

How funny was it watching a couple of thousand people get evacuated from metro's? then to start dancing on top of the firetruck... class!

Had a good night.. mike played what i expected him to (not what i wanted him to:P) .. didnt catch much of marco v, was a bit slow but picked up in areas then died again

mike played the gift - seventh day ... prolly the highlight of my night
he is very creative on the decks.. wasnt afraid to try things out.. which is always good to see!

our own jon noonan (antistatic) played a great set nice one mate! pity about the interruption! haha

down with sweatie shirtless gurners who always want to rub their bodily juices allover u as much as possible! :|

now its off to scrub myself very hard in the shower

why did they evacuate metros?

Posted by Antistatic on Sep-29-2003 02:43:

Cheers Lanithium!

Here's a copy of my tracklist (as I recall):
1. Freeland - We Want Your Soul (Acapella)
2. Fortunato & Montresor - Imagine (Pole Folder's sense of imagination)
>Fire alarm!
2. Fortunato & Montresor - Imagine (Pole Folder's sense of imagination)
3. Cultivate - Broken Pieces (Dale Askews' Liberation Mix)
4. Matanka - Lost in a Dream (Push Remix)
5. Svenson & Gielen - Beachbreeze (Original Mix)
6. Matti Laamanen - Flakes (Original Mix)
7. Ronald van Gelderen aka Kid Vicious - Proceed
8. System F - Spaceman (Matti Lamanen Remix)
9. Karada - Last Flight (Harry Diamond and David Pannell Mix)

It was a pain in the arse with the fire alarm. Apparently some chick was smoking too close to the detector. This meant I didn't really get started until 3:30 and only got to play to 4:20 (50mins). I also had a lot of trouble with security not letting me backstage to pick up my records and Choice was supposed to get MIKE to sign my records!

lol, hearing a fire alarm during a trance event is not very helpful IMO...peakers would think it's part of the tune.

AGREED!! awesome tune, but i think Airbase's Theme From the Rock may have been even huger crowd response-wise, as was Fictivision/C-Quence - Symbols

all round it was a great night tho M.I.K.E wasnt as good as i had hoped, played some fantastic tunes but they were few and far between unfortunately .. and i was quite diappointed with Marco V, he bored the pants off me and i was more than eager to head upstairs once 3am came...

...Jon, u were awesome dude!! what a tracklist pity bout the evacuation interrupting you but dont matter the set was perfect good to see what a great reaction u got from everyone too! grr, again i didnt get around to coming say hello but i was either too busy dancing furiously or being whisked away by friends .. but i was that guy in the middle with the blue glowstick absolutely losing it when u played Flakes lol .. and if M.I.K.E didnt play Matanka im glad someone did

THERE'S NO DARK CLOUDS IN MY WORLD NOOOOOOW!!

M.I.K.E was simply awesome makes armin look like a school boy, played plenty of awesome tunes wish i knew what they were, just knew :Solar Factor - Urban Shakedown and of course UNIVERSAL NATION to finish of an amazing ,uplifting and underground set.Not just playing anthems all in a row which was good.

Marco-V started of real slow almost put me to bed especially when MIKE's set was banging. then i heard sirens .Marco V didnt look to happy about that, who wouldnt.

Over all top night (apart from getting kicked out).

Yeah fuck the shirtless wonders!

M.I.K.E ROCKS!!!!!!

Thanks heaps man! It makes all of the poverty, the late nights and putting up with dodgy people worth it to hear a punter had a wickid time! Last night this happened quite a lot, to my delight. Maybe next year I can con Mellen Events into putting me on the main stage

I wasn't expecting the crowd to get as into it as they did when I jumped up on the speaker, that was pretty fuckin cool.

If you liked my set log onto http://www.perthdancemusicawards.com and vote "Jon Noonan" for "Best New Talent". I was planning on having some mixups to chuck out into the audience but they slipped my mind.

Uninspired.

20 minutes to get a bourbon and coke. BOO. It wasn't due to the amount of people trying to get served, it was because the stupid barstaff were too busy chatting amongst themselves or throwing bottles in the air thinking they were good.

Sorry i didn't stick around for your set Jon.

anyone have some sort of a tracklist for the MIKE set ?

Posted by calum on Sep-30-2003 05:34:

My thoughts on the night

*Vinylgroover was OK - kept things interesting, played more or less uplifting hard trance

*MIKE is the king of trance. Period! His set was a killer, played great a selection of stuff - finally some driving underground trance without the predictable breakdowns. First time I have ever seen a DJ get on the mike at the end of his set and thank the crowd

*Best moment of the night/year/decade... - MIKE playing the extended original version (i think?) of Universal Nation to close his set... I still have no words to describe just how good it was

*Marco V set was also very good, played very technoey/tech-trancey. Had very nice progression and building to his set, however the fire alarm midway thru his set just fucked the whole thing up - such a pity. Hopefully he'll make a return to perth after that debacle, you could see after we were let back in he wasn't very happy

*BK - was obviously talented at hard house music. But all I have to say is what an utter load of dumb-boring-nonsense music he played. The occasional hard house track is bearable but 2 hours of this garbage at 4 in the morning just did my head in.. Its like banging your head against a brick wall 160x a minute!! I feel everyone in the room was made dumber after listening to this shit

*Overall - best night I have had in ages; MIKE and Marco-v were as good as you could expect to hear. Hard House is bad. Fire alarms are bad. Sweaty shirtless posing gurners are bad too. Atmosphere overall was excellent. And correct me if im wrong but i think finally the production team have started use Milkdrop/Giess up on the big sceen - look at all those pretty fractals...

Lastly I agree with you Huebor - the barstaff needed a kick in the teeth, they were utterly hopeless - plus some didn't give out caps with the bottled water!! I thought that practice was somewhat against health regulations

Posted by christos on Sep-30-2003 05:49:

The fact that they don't give out caps with your water is for two reasons:
1. So you can't go and fill up from the toilets and hence not purchase water all night;
2. So you *hopefully* spill it everywhere and buy another.

As water is HEAVILY consumed at raves, taking advantage of people like that shouldn't be allowed. I mean I paid for the bottle "including" the cap....fark....

ONE WORD FOR SATURDAY IN MELBOURNE........M.I.K.E!!
