so im recording a cd that i have been planning for a while... ive had to start over a few times but this last time i gave it one more shot and went flawlessly thorugh the whole thing... and then on the last song...

my computer crashed

lost everything

all that was left was this 2.something gigabyte file of silence in soundforge's temp file

im so pissed
sorry i just had to let that out

What kind of crash? Did it freeze or just shutdown or what? If there's something wrong with the hardware it's be good to find out just so this never happens again.

The worst for me was when I recorded a party that was being broadcasted live and whne it was finished the computer froze while saving it

well about an hour into it, i was typing and all the sudden...

well the screen went totally blank i could only see the mouse moving around and changing pointers....

control alt delet didnt work...alt f4 didnt work, excape enter....beating the keyboard and clicking random places with the mouse didnt work lol so i just turned it off

and then when i tried to turn it back on it was stuck with half the taskbar showing up for the longest time...it took a few reboots to make it boot right : \ i donno what happened.

Do you run Adaware and a virus scan? You can get adaware for free at www.lavasoftusa.com if you don't have it already and there are many options for virus scans.

Just format your PC and start over. That sucks about it quitting at the end. You prolly have some stupid ass virus in there. My computer has been fucking up left and right this past week, so I just said fuck it, format it.

Another thing, when I record, I can never mix, I don't know why, but I just can't beatmatch as I would normally be playing for practice! I'm right there with you man!

I sometimes record to a MD player first, and then use that to record to PC
