Why aren't there any Trance Radio Stations

Why aren't there any Trance Radio Stations here in MTL. We need something like ID&T radio. That would definatly be sweet. We should start our own.

Bub I don't only listen to trance. I mean a station that plays Electronic music in general. I use trance as a general term. We need one here.

Well mainly because CRTC (I think thats the correct abbreviation), states that all radio station must play 40% of domestic content... Good luck finding Canadian trance/house to play on radio...

imagine a US company, administrated by a canadian guy, delivering trance via a webradio server hosted in sweden. which laws apply ?

anyway, good luck finding cheap bandwith.. we're talking about terabytes here.

for example, here's some razernet.com stats;
One of ZinG's set lasted ~100 minutes and weighted approximately 100mo of upcoming transfer (128kpbs, 44hz, Stereo) This means 2go of total transfer for only 19 listeners.

An average of 20 listeners connected on a 24/7 radio during 30 days will suck up ~900go of transfer.

that's why di.fm isnt offering the 128kbps stream for free anymore.

I know a couple of radio stations that have EDM shows.

I won't post them until Krinker takes back that comment. It's disrespectful to tell ppl what to listen to.

so things aren't exactly moving forward in this country !

guys i know you're gonna hate me for saying this , but i prefer the things being like they are now , if EDM goes mainstream what's gonna happen ?

Actually me and and DJ Vano, we are in chagre of Vanier College Radio station, and yes, we have electronic music shows. Mainly Techno and Trance. But ill tell you something, people that are actually listen to electronic music, represent very small percentage of the population, so fogert it.. Moral of the story: let this music play wherem it's suppose to...

Posted by mastercongo on Oct-02-2003 22:47:

damn alec is back? i tought we got rid of him.

L'objectif de l'mission est la promotion des nouveaux talents montralais qui voluent dans les styles de musique House, Tech et Trance.
