Confused Shaving Cuts.

How do you deal with yours?

Im a styptic pencil man myself.

Posted by [N]k|[Z] on Oct-01-2003 16:14:

ive only ever cut myself shaving like 3 times in my whole shaving career. those 3 times were all when when drunk, so i couldnt really give a fuck about it at that time, so i left it. a rather primative method, but it seems to work lol

i hate shaving bcuz u get all that acne after, and the white acne is disgusting.

Posted by Orbax on Oct-01-2003 17:18:

use after shave and you wont get acne...also shave every day..

styptic pencils are the way to go, too many people dont know about em.

you find them at barber shops [male hairdressers] ... along with unbreakable combs and crap coconut smelling shampoo, also 'just for men' if its a real mens barber shop

hate shavin myself, esp under the chin and that whole neck area. it's grand if you're goin with the grain, but if u want a close shave for that really smooth feelin that the ladies love then u gotta go against.. and that's painful ..BUT NOT OF YOU'RE USING A MACH 3 TURBO!!

While in college in Dublin last year i used the same blade for about 3 months. and boy was i happy when Daddy nought my 8 new blades for Christmas!!

Posted by butterfly on Oct-01-2003 18:24:

i dont shave anymore. alternate hair removal techniques are much smoother.

King

ive so far, cut myself twice during my shaving career...

the way i handle it, is just let it bleed everywhere, then use a towel and hold it to cut for a few seconds and repeat 5 times, it will stop eventually.

what kind of mach3 turbo have you been using? when i go against the grain all i see is red liquid coming down my neck all the time!

Posted by Orbax on Oct-01-2003 19:04:

you have to go with the grain before you go against it lol

Posted by Rick D on Oct-01-2003 19:49:

i always shave just before i shower, i find that help to sooth it and stops any bleeding, the white acne is a pain in the arse, i thought it was just me having an allergic reaction to something, I usaully get it the night after i shave, its well annoying

Posted by biznology on Oct-01-2003 19:53:

the Mach3 is crap...too expensive and gets dull really fast.

aftershave is necessary, i dont even wash my face that much, just shave in the shower and then after after. keeps the zits away.

and i go neither with nor against. going across sometimes works well- or at least gets the hair shorter if you need to go against.

you should really have a shave after being in the bath or shower, as it opens your pores so you can get deeper cut. also it dosnt hurt as much cos your face is sorta moisturised from the warm water.... then after wash all the foam off with ice cold water.... this closes your pores again, so you dont get dirt in your gaping pores, and also it leaves you feeling so fresh, then whack sum serious aftershave booshiyat on

Posted by Rick D on Oct-01-2003 20:11:

i always soak my face with warm water first, then wash it after with cold, and no matter how much aftershave i use i usually get the whiteys

Jay you clearly know your shit on the male grooming front, you must work for Clinique or summat.

cut my upper lip once. Was beelding for hours but didn't hurt.

As for after shave: What if u wanna put on eau the cologne. Surely you cant put one after another so em..does eau de toilette have the same effects? Cause I put it on instead of the after shave sometimes...

Posted by goose_wh on Oct-01-2003 20:39:

though aftershave does dry the skin out. I use post shave healer by King of Shaves, or Cliniques Post Shave Healer (bit expensive but good shit)

Posted by Ian on Oct-01-2003 20:43:

I Shave before i shower, and usually if i cut myself at all, the boiling water stops the blood, then the aftershave will do some good shit to soothing

gawwww i bet you say that to all the pre-menstrual, naive, impressionable 16 year olds

I cut myself all too often :-(. I don't use shaving cream (takes too long!) and go against the grain in some places immediately. Usually my face is a bloody mess when I do that... Not so good before going to clubs.

if i accidentally nick myself, i rip a little piece of tissue and place it on the cut. the blood dries to the tissue and after about 2 minutes i take it off. good as new. after i shave i always take a washcloth, soak it with scalding hot water, and apply to my face. that seems to stop me from getting those whiteys. give it a try.

Make sure the beard is thoroughly wet to swell and soften the hair. Use warm water to open the pores.

Massage your cream into the area to be shaved. An oil or cream will give the best results and be a lot less drying. Foams may give a great lather but can really dry and irritate the skin.

Make sure your razor is really sharp.

Shave in the same direction as the hair growth. Use short strokes and take care over the neck and throat.

Rinse your razor in HOT water (especially important if you are using an oil.)

Finish by rinsing off excess cream or oil with cool water. Ideally use a toner after wards to remove any residue, close the pores and refresh the skin.

Use an after shave balm on the shaved areas if it feels irritated. Use a moisturiser over the rest of the face and neck to keep skin firm and supple.

1. Wash your face with soap and warm water to remove oils from the hair and skin, and to allow water softening to occur. Or better yet, shave after a shower when hair is fully saturated with water.

2. Next, apply a thick layer of shaving cream or gel, and allow to sit on skin approximately three minutes. Shaving preparations:
Keep moisture on the skin to enhance softening
Reduce friction caused by the razor going over the skin's surface
Carry away debris removed by the razor blade
Enable the shaver to see the area already shaved

3. Remember to shave in the direction of hair growth. Take your time and shave carefully over sensitive areas. For a closer shave, carefully shave against the grain of hair growth.

4. Immediately rinse with cold water to remove any traces of soap or lather.

5. Complete your shaving regimen with an aftershave product to soothe sensitive areas. Skin can be irritated by the alcohol found in many aftershave splashes, so use a cream or gel aftershave product if you have sensitive skin.

6. Use a clean, sharp blade. Newer blades require less force to cut through the hair than dull blades. Since you don't need much pressure with a new blade, you'll reduce the risk of nicks and cuts.

two sites say it, must be true
