Dunno Junk E-mail

Hey guys, How do I stop advertiser from sending me their junk e-mail? I tried blocking the message, but they keep coming from different advertisers.

what's your email address?

Posted by T-1000 on Oct-03-2003 00:53:

I've tried every possible thing to avoid them spamming my mailbox. Needless to say It didn't help...

This isn't a quick fix, but the best thing you can get is adaptive (Bayesian) filtering. I use Thunderbird (get it off the Mozilla page) as my mail client and it works pretty well, not sure which other programs are good.

But yeah, you really can't do much to stop spam. You can make rules, but they'll thwart 'em.

It's not from pron site, they are for loans and cell phones and car dealerships.

As long as you have an e-mail address, you will get spam. There's not much you can do about it. You can however block e-mail addresses, and you can make rules that e-mails containing some words will be deleted, but that doesn't help much. Just face the facts.

There was already a thread about this not a long time ago...
My solution remains the same: block all emails that don't have your adress in the TO: field.

(Outlook Express > Message Rules > Mail... > New...: 1. Where the To line contains people (click on blue link that will appear then Add then options and select 'Apply rule is message doesn't contain the people below' 2. Move it to the specified folder (trash))

Theres not a lot u can do, u definitely cant stop all of it. What xtr3m said is good advice. Dont click unsubscribe links, that just confirms the address is valid. And dont ever use ur real address anywhere if u can help it.

Thanks, does block the sender option work?

Posted by xtr3m on Oct-03-2003 15:18:

Most of the spam will get blocked that way.
