Essential Record

just wondering what is the one record you play each time you mix?
or
for you DJs that play out, what is the one record you always have to have to either get the floor going or save your set?

and for you bedroom DJs what is the one record you nearly always have ti mix, just cos you love, or it helps make your set that much better?

Halogen vs. Vic - Fast Escape (Mesh Remix)

Posted by brian on Oct-03-2003 05:56:

For the past few months its been
Rafferty and Kershaw - We Are Connected (Marcos pres. Sunfire Remix)

The intro to it before the bass really starts banging can get you out of damn near anything. That's usually not why I include it though. Sometimes I'll use it to sort of transition from a harder point in the mix to a more trancey point, or vice-versa.

i must play these at least 2 of these three songs everytime i spin:

paul van dyk - for an angel
three drives - greece 2000 or carrera 2 (nu-nrg mix)
katana - silence

greece 2000 and silence go really well with each other, it's almost too easy with those two records...

avancada - money for nothing (overdrive)

great great great track for getting the dance floor moving

Medway - Release (Lexicon Avenue Remix)... Great tune that can be dropped in many different places in a set but will always rock it

Posted by DJ A.i on Oct-03-2003 11:41:

frank traxx - nebuchan(organ mix)... i dont know why but it always finds itself on my play list.

Totally agree with that, and agree 100% with your words.

Also as liquidmist2001 said Katana - Fancy Fair

Usually play 1 or 2 trance tunes from 99 also

Accadia - Blind Visions (Club Mix)

Same as DJ A.i, just always finds its way in there. Easy to mix in and out of to.

hehe, i meant katana - silence (antic mix) if you haven't heard it you should.......

but fancy fair is also a damn good song, need to find it on 12", i just got katana - alesis/dulce vita yesterday, and found that they are both good songs to start with, kinda mellow, low in energy and then you can just rip into to something much much harder...

Posted by DJ M.G on Oct-03-2003 17:33:

Ive already got katana - silence
the antic mix is very nice to mix out of

alesis & dulce vita are good tunes as well

Posted by liquidmist2001 on Oct-03-2003 17:45:

do you know by anychance who antic is?

cuz other songs by katana sound like the antic mix, like fancy fair and alesis....but i'm thinking they're two different people

Tiesto - Lethal Industry (original mix)
its kinda old, and everybody's heard it, but i always find myself slipping it in when i spin alone, and i always want to play it when i play out (not too often)

Posted by Nemesis44 on Oct-04-2003 19:42:

Fridge - Angel 'Club version' Damn old and not a set saver but a personal favourite.

Dave Joy - Second Chase 'Orignal' I like to play this still, love this tune.
DJ Kim - Jetlag 'Alphazone mix' Stonker of a tune, again old but good.

I have been totaly hammering DK - Murder was the bass this summer so I guess this is my most played record in that last month or two. No marks for orginality for me, but the tune gets 10/10 for ripping the dance floor to shreds everytime.

Cheers
Nem

well, i have three....

kai tracid - trance & acid
it was the first record i ever bought, and i still love it. it encompasses my style, or the style im trying to achieve in one song

dj loving loop - revolution
the general hardstyle-ness of the track doesnt suit me well, but i cant get over how catchy that acid line is as it comes in

angel of death - angel of death
a somewhat older song, thats still new to me cuz i just recently bought it. i love when everything drops out except for the "evil", really deep chorus in the background, and then when the synth part comes in over that

Posted by DannyO on Oct-06-2003 05:36:

these are some awesome replies, and I realized I haven't even put mine in, well I can never be sure, but I love to drop:

PVD - Another Way
Topanya - Heres Another Chance For You To Dance With Me
Airscape - L'Esperanza (sp?)

but I have a feelin that will change in a couple weeks, as I order some old favourates that have been hard to get ahold of.

Posted by liquidmist2001 on Oct-06-2003 07:35:

l'esperanza is the fuckin' choon man!!!

i didn't know that airscape is svenson & gielen...regardless of the music they make right now, l'esperanza is the best freakin' tune they have ever made...oh and btw, johan gielen is a sick ass DJ.

i just pretty much like going through all my records and pick the next one that comes up that I know will get my heart racing so fast that i'm gonna get a heart attack...hehe

i don't know what mix you play for this song, but i personally love the hennes & cold mix, infact i love almost anything done by hennes & cold...like their remix of fragma's "say that you're here". both of these are freakin' awesome!!!

lately, i've been caning motorcycle and hybrid, they don't mix too well in my opinion, but i love both of them...

Rapid Eye - Circa Forever is the best choon to have been released in the last 2 years

Posted by DjOvertime on Oct-06-2003 17:55:

YMCA by the Village People

as of late

massive lust - never

very easy to mix in/out of

Posted by farley on Oct-07-2003 00:37:

Lately it's been Fictivision vs. C-Quence-Symbols and Andy Hunter-Go (Antillas remix), but I've strayed away from playing them everytime b/c I have 2 shows a week...but I always want to play them.

Although I just picked up Yahel & Eyal Barkan-Voyage (Magikal remake) and I'm sure that's gonna get the fuck caned out of it
