Roboe, two tracks!

hey, this is my 1st post! i have produced two tracks and would like all your opinions on them, the 1st 1 is called diablo and its got a shitty kick and mastering but dont let that put u off! second is called digital reflection. i use fruity atm but i am learning on reason 2. i have been producing for 6 months and i feel i have learnt alot over the peroid of time, heres the links
Roboe - Diablo.mp3 (192kbps)
Roboe - Digital Reflection.mp3 (192 kbps)
oh and b4 anyone says it, my main influence is m.i.k.e. he is a genius! LONG LIVE M.I.K.E!

First one is cool - I like the ambiance... maybe faster action into the climax i dunno..drums could use a little more punch but overall very good for 6 months. What did you use for the lead at the end?

Second one - I liked better. Had more move and melody happening there. I like your use of special effects and EQ and stuff especially for 6 months

Keep it up!

I downloaded digital reflection (recognise you from mpfs )...

It was generally a good track, Mike-ish, as you mentioned. The melodies were nice, and the baseline was interesting as well. My main gripes were the fact that it lacks drive in some points...as in the main melody could be complimented by a prominent saw pad/beefed up a little.
The percussion could also be a bit more complex...not to say it was bad though.

Overall, well done, really enjoyed listening

heh yep thats me. ok i took a listen to Digital Reflection, its got a great melody and yes its EXTREMELY m.i.k.e-like which aint a bad thing at all. sounds like some of mike's earlier Intimo work, with the airy synths. one thing thats different is your bassline doesnt seem to have as much flow as those usually found in a mike track and doesnt give the track that rolling sound maybe u could expand it a little .. u know how MIKE tunes start off sounding kinda empty and then suddenly u find yourself in amongst this massive reverbing bassline as the tune progresses? this would be great here. as for the riff, the melody is great, i would like to see more power in the synths, plastic boy style i guess .. cos the tune has huge potential. i keep thinking to myself, man M.I.K.E could do a great remix of this track hehhe :P

dude, great work for six months' experience!

truley, for a n00b , you're doing very well, most people who have just signed up get one reply if they're lucky

Posted by leedearn on Oct-14-2003 16:12:

well i actually signed up eons ago but i never posted owt! how silly of me
is it always like that, the n00bs get hardly any attention while the more prolific ones get loads of attention?

Not always, it's just that a n00b who appears to have registered just to post a link to a track without reviewing anyone elses (I realize that isn't you, but it does happen a lot) often gets ignored...

btw, how's reason treating you, i'd like to see what you come up with when you manage to finnish something with it...

Posted by leedearn on Oct-15-2003 11:27:

reason is going good, im having a game makin a nice lead sound that doesnt sound like it was made in reason if u know wat i mean. im producing a tune that i made in fruity originally and im now doin it in reason. i got quite a few projects that i will transfer from fruity to reason.
