A relentless escape from reality?

It's a noxious drug whose excess leads neither to mystical experience, nor spiritual growth, but only to long term depravity and aggravation.

Been there, done that, bought the t-shirt...

How anyone could consider it as a healthy lifestyle is beyond me. Any drug that you find alleviation through cold porcelain is just stupid if you ask me.

Ask some of my old friends who got sent to "Right-Turn" and I'm sure they'd say the same.

translate that for me? cold porcellain? what does this have to do with booze? most of the alcoholic beverages that I consume are served in a GLASS container. Or am I in the wrong movie here?

well, i did say that tongue in cheek i have no illusions about the dangers of alcohol, i've had plenty of contact with alcoholism for as long as i can remember. however, i enjoy my alcohol. i don't need it or escape in it. and i rarely worship the porcelain god, unless i get a migraine from not drinking water because i know my limit.

i was making a melodramatic joke although i realize that some people who have had parts, or all, of their lives shaped by alcoholism don't find humor in it.

It's cool. I wasn't trying to give a sermon, I just don't want anyone to hurt themselves.

I've just seen too many friends screw their lives up. I would HATE to see anyone get caught up in the pitfalls of alcoholism because alcohol really is the most insidious drug, especially since it's so widely accepted.

I was a binge drinker back in the day as of course were many of my high school and college friends. Luckily, I've just about always been able to moderate, which I can't say is the case for quite a few of them who now can't drink even a drop because they're on the wagon. I've always been fun-loving and free-living so yeah I still get drunk every now and then, but that's much more the exception than it is the rule.

I guess what I'm aiming to say is that moderation is the key.

*end rant*
