Read This! Good software/harware for 303??

I think that headline says what I want

So: what is good software or hardware to create those juicy/dirty/acid style 303 sounds? U know what sounds I mean?

Well..one good example is Kai Tracid - Trance And acid. There is nice 303 sound goign on (at least in that radio/video version right beginning and later on also).

That kind of sound??

To make 303 type sounds with software i use ts404, triangle 2 or tau pro. Also you could use rebirth as thats is an emulation of a 303 bassline. But remember the key to good acid sound is playing with the cutoff and resonance when the riff is playing and don't forget to put a distortion on the sound.

Use rebirth mate. It's dead set simple to recreate acid. You just need to know where to point all those dials, and most importantly, you need to get the distortion right. Should only take a few seconds once you get the hang of it. I can tell you the settings, but its way more fun trying to figure them out for yourself. To get you in the right direction, maximum resonance.

dj_alfi, so that name really is z3ta? Never heard that before...

Rebirth, that is familair name, maybe I should try that... I heard it is good for even synths and kicks? Is it VST support?

Triangle 2 or Tau Prono... Hmm... So they are VTS synths?

Unfortunately no, Rebirth is too old skool to be VST. It is rewire'able though, so if you are using Cubase, then you can just run it straight through and share all midi commands, start/stop, timing data, etc. If you're using Fruity, I hear FL4 now allows for rebirth.

I have yet to hear software that sounds as good as the real thing. However, with the right distortion, you can get pretty decent results from the Muon Tau Pro and the PPD Tritium. Tau Bassline 2 is out now too. I haven't tried it yet but it looks promising. You can get both the Tritium and the Muon Tau (an old free version of the Tau Pro) here.

If you want a hardware solution, I would say the best bet is probably the FutureRetro 777. You should be able to pick one up for about $600 US.

Of course, none of these things compare to the real thing! I can't even listen to ReBirth since I got my 303 - it sounds like a toy!

King

u can get a nice 303 out of the 3xosc

a nice blunt bass pluck + delay + light distortion/filter = deep rich 303
