Roll Call - TA-dinner on Oct 17 in San Francisco w/ Armin van Buuren stopping by...

Hey all, I'm sure most of you know, but if you don't, AvB will be in San Francisco on Oct 17 to play at 1015 Folsom (21+ only, sorry), but will be stopping by a TA-dinner to chat, take pics, etc.

We do not know the exact time of the dinner yet (have to check in with Dave Lewis to confirm times, but it looks like it will be taking place at Chevys Fresh Mex on 3rd and Howard, less than a mile from 1015 Folsom - about a 10 minute walk). Anyhow, there is no guarantee of how long Armin will be around once he does stop by, but him stopping by to show his support to his fans alone is an extraordinary thing among producer/DJs, and it would be very appreciated if you would join us in his stopping by to show your support for what he provides to the EDM scene and its community.

So, if you'd like to participate in this rare chance to sit down and chat, take pics, etc with a world-class DJ, please let it be known in this thread. If you plan to bring along guests or whatever, please let it also be known as we will be making reservations to make sure we have seating arrangements prepared at Chevys on Firday, October 17.

Exactly what time it will happen at is not known yet - we need to get in touch with Armins manager first to know what time would be good for him, first.

We just would like to know if you are planning on attending so we can be prepared make reservations as early as possible.

- The TA-dinner planners...yeah, the planners.

Wooha!

I tried to do something similar to this, but it didn't happen, unfortunately. David explained to me the busy schedule they had with promoting 76 and didn't know if it could happen. But, I do need to give you some advice. With the popularity of Armin on these boards, its not a good thing to say where the meetup is in a public forum. Try PMing the attendees individually. Thats just a suggestion so you don't get a crowd of dumbasses at the restaraunt who aren't even going to the show.

peace.

Steve

Eh, dinners in the past have been setup on this board from areas where there is a MUCh bigger TA community than in SF (eg. Miami, Toronto, etc) and it has all gone fine.

Heck, the Chicago dinner was known everywhere from TA board, to the Spundare boards, to Armin's own forum, to other place, and it all went well.

So I'm not so worried. And Chevy's is big. And th area where they usualyl reserver for large RSVPed group can hold a tonf oe people, more than I expect to attend, so I'm not too worried.

Photo asked Armins' manager long ago if this was cool (I literally think we were the fourth group of peopl ein the US or so), and he was down with it...David Lewis seems to be good at plannign tings out - I'm sure we'll be fine.

I have emailed Dave, seeing that hes already with Armin on the US 76 tour... i dont think a few days difference will make much of an effect.
Lets just hope he has acess to email on his US trip
lol

Didn't Dave Lewis say to contact him again a week before the gig?

If so, and nothing happens, I will personally yap my ass off to him up in the 1015 booth talking about how disappointed some people are and make them feel bad.

I'd really hope that he has access to the net from some laptop he has....I've contact DJs before directly while on tour and they've responded just fine, and they are the DJ....not even the manager :|

Dave, when do you need the final tally? I'm trying to get my potential guests to commit (but some of them want to wait until they know if it's Chevy's or Jilian's - )

Posted by DaveT on Oct-15-2003 19:32:

Cookypuss, where would they prefer? No one is answering my thread...and to be honest, I don't care where it is...as long as AvB shows up, I'll be a happy person!!!!!

Anyhow, I would say by EOD at the latest to let me know.

Also, I didn't know you worked with Cornell.

Dave

Jillian's seems to be winning out over Chevy's. I know that it's my preference for sure, but I don't know if my guests will actually come.

Do you know Cornell?? Ya, we work together!! Does he post here, or did you see from Friendster?

Actually met him at a friends place for a PvD pre-party back in June...then we all went over to PvD together to have a really insane night. That friend then moved away and we lost touch , but he found me on Friendster yesterday....I guess through you (cause he mentioned you two worked together).

Anyhow, as I said, I don't whether it's Jillians or Chevy's in the end, but I think the atmosphere at Jillians would be funner. So if you are the only one who is going to say where you'd like to go, then I guess it'll be Jillians.

I'll wait until this evening to let all the youngins get back from school, work, whatever and say a word

Dave

How funny - he just sent me a long email explaining. Coinkidink!

He's a 1015 hater, so he's going down to Circus instead, but really wanted to do the meet up. Is there one going on in LA? If not, I told him I'd get his 76 signed. Hope Armin doesn't mind.

You must be talking about Cornell, I take it? Yeah, he told me he's going down to LA...he goes all the time because he looOVOEOOEDOSOOEOSOOS Circus, and hates 1015

Yep, there is a meetup in LA....just look at the other threads. I'm not helping with that one in any way.

Posted by cookypuss1 on Oct-15-2003 22:17:

Yeah, I was talking about Cornell. I don't get his deal with 1015, but whatever.

I posted in the other thread, because I couldn't find place/time for the LA one.
