Why do posers have to exist?

warning...this is not a debate thread about who is your favorite dj

so what is wrong with a lot of people
they are acting like sheep going with the flaw...before 2 years diggers was their best dj last year it was tiesto and it looks like pvd is gonna be their best for this year (or whoever gets to be voted as #1 on djmag)but if u asked them before 6 months: what do u think about pvd they would say: i cant stand him, tiesto is better..but now guess what...they are listening to pvd :/

whats your opinion?

re:

Peoples tastes change as do dj's styles.Tiesto was my favourite last year but i don't really dig his new style.

Posted by IpLaYWiTLiGhTs on Oct-09-2003 18:57:

Depends who you ask. Obviously there;s always gonna be people who ride on the band wagon because they want to fit in. Fuck those people. When you wanna talk about music, talk to people who go by their own style/taste.

I've liked PvD since 2001...so...yea. No band wagon here

quite frankly i dont see wut the big deal about pvd is..

i will be extremely dissappointed if he wins dj of the year with his unpolished productions.

Posted by Pio on Oct-09-2003 19:06:

tiesto has been my #1 from 1998 to this day, that has never changed and i doubt it will ever change. it's true that a lot of people here are mad incosistent, just search their profiles and message histories and you'll see i could name so many members of this board who have changed their view over the span of time, they even go from loving to hating a certain dj or genre in the span of 2 weeks

always have and always will be a pvd fan
i don't know if he really deserves to be the #1 dj
but if not, he's in the top 3 for me

lets clear all the smoke once and for all..

pvd is good at djing but his productions are lackluster

he deserves a spot in the top 5 but not the WORLD renowned #1 as many people are hoping...IMO

just a person's taste working here

pvd isnt my cup of tea anymore.

sure if i was with my gf in a club and drunk id go crazy to his music..but it doesnt carry the value that a set like pvd-loveparade 99 did....

For the second time in this thread - this is based on DJing, not producing. So I'm afraid your argument does not hold up.

ok let me reinterate....look at my above post

also alot of people on this board think reflections and connected are overrated tunes.

Now usually a dj will use his own productions for his set so if his productions dont live up then the overall set loses value

Posted by Greedy on Oct-09-2003 19:44:

i actually think tiesto is coming back nowadays
i couldnt stand him last year.

Posted by Wretched on Oct-09-2003 20:04:

I voted PvD for fear of him further bastardizing the word "fuck" and its derivatives if he lost.

"Fuck this fucking crap I'm not fucking the fuck fucking second fucking best fucking DJ this year."

they can shoot the bandwagon's tires for all i care

Posted by Floorfiller on Oct-09-2003 20:22:

why do people that use the word "Poser" have to exist?

Posted by speedracer_mec on Oct-09-2003 20:24:

they should use the word NUTSUCKER instead of poser..

that describes the situation a bit better

I think I know what he's getting at. See, like at least half of the tunes in PvD's sets are either his "reworks/re-edits" and remixes.

As most of us know, his productions are wank and lack the quality that other producers have like James Holden, Matt Darey, Tiesto, etc. Yes, the DJ Mag poll is based on DJ skills which PvD has I know that...but I think track selection has just as much to do with DJ skills as mixing does.

At least it's used in the right context this time...unlike the "PvD is a poser" thread in the chill out room.

Posted by Toufas on Oct-09-2003 20:30:

erm
this topic is not about who is the best dj but about those _)@$I#()*$ trend followers

Posted by Scorpio Rising on Oct-09-2003 20:32:

What was the point of the thread?

Are you stupid ? This is a DJ POOL!! And PVD is the best Trance Dj for me this year (seen him live once and heard some of his sets)!! Thats why he gets so many votes..

If some1 wants to be cool and want follow the mainstream he would listen to hip hop or commercial "trance" isnt it ?? only a few ppl here in germany (or anywhere else in the world expect dutch maybe) know even PVD so if they vote for him it doesnt mean they are jumping on the bandwagon
