Most Influential Person To Trance

Now this was not done properly on another board, so I figured why not take it to this board.

You have the following choices

Paul Van Dyk, Paul Oakenfold, Ferry Corsten, Oliver Lieb, Tiesto and OTHERS

no armin because he has not been around long enough

Now remember this is NOT THE FAVE PRODUCER, this is WHO HAS DONE THE MOST FOR THE GENRE!!!!!

It's not an easy question

Posted by torontotrance on Oct-10-2003 20:35:

I figured I would post my opinion seperately

It is a hard question because many people have done a lot for trance. I personally think that Paul Oakenfold would have to be the one to vote for because he had been pushing the sound since 1993 and without him, without him, who inspired Tiesto and others.

I voted for ferry because he has one of the biggest back catalogues in trance and has produced under so many different aliases. Tracks like out of the blue, his remix of barbers adagio for strings and the gouryella work with tiesto are some of the first tunes too have that trance formula that so many other producers copy today. Now he's trying to create a new style of his own again with tracks like punk, rock your body rock and right of way so for me he's definately done the most for the trance genre.

I would have to say that Oakenfold has had the biggest influence on the genre, more in the past than recently. If we were talking more recently I would say Paul Van Dyk but Oakenfold has been pushing the trance scene since his GOA Essential Mix-he was the initial inspiration (as already stated) to the likes of Ferry, Tiesto, PVD etc.

i think oakey as well. he was one of the first to represent "trance" and still does somewhat to this day.. all others has done alot too but oakey was the first out of the list up there.

Considering how long Oakenfold has been in the business, I'd say him

Yeah true that, but he's been doing trance since the beginning

Whoever invented the Synthesizer.

Or Oakenfold, if you want that sort of answer.

PVD has definetly been the father figure of trance he has more or less led the way from day one. He's not my favourite producer but you have gotta give the man credit.

Oakie
Old man that he is

Posted by starglider on Oct-11-2003 15:18:

Who knows what Oakie et al would have been playing in 99 if Lieb hadn't been there first?

Posted by DjSimonB on Oct-12-2003 00:09:

I think that many people have played an important role in making trance big... Oakenfold for obvious reasons, but the others mentioned have definitly contributed too (Ferry, Oliver, PvD, etc etc), trance would have been pretty different if any one of these guys hadon't been born

Posted by Boy trance on Oct-12-2003 00:29:

I'm gonna say M.I.K.E. Just cause he is my fav and has done more musically, influencing others to follow in his footsteps. Oakie too has done tons, but he has also raped the scene.. next I guess Tiesto, or even Ferry. This is actually a pretty difficult poll...

Posted by Echo of Silence on Oct-12-2003 01:19:

IMO, Oakenfold #1, PvD #2.

Posted by lonne on Oct-12-2003 13:05:

I would say both Oakie and Oliver Lieb, both of those guys has devoloped electronic dancemusic to a whole new level from when it
all started.

Posted by SYSTEM-J on Oct-12-2003 16:44:

Jam & Spoon? After all they did create trance in the first place.

Otherwise, PVD as he has been producing since the early 90s and above all other artists his music is "typical" of trance. Just look at his remix of Binary Finary. It did nothing special, unlike Matt Darey or Gouryella, but the sheer quality of it made it just as good.

King

PVD and Oaky..both are the kings of trance..

Posted by Magnetonium on Oct-13-2003 09:21:

Talking This is a no brainer .....

Without a doubt, the most influential, most successfull DJ in the world who has done so much for trance, and electronica in general ... and influenced very strongly many people like me ......
PAUL OAKENFOLD!

Posted by ShellSh0ck on Oct-13-2003 09:53:

Paul van Dyk

Posted by Scorchio on Oct-13-2003 11:33:

I Definitley think M.I.K.E. should also be here.
Hes been producing for a long time and he has pushed the boundries of sound allot of times, but my vote still goes for Oakenfold who truely inspired the scene with his imaginative sets throughout the years.

Posted by quilly on Oct-13-2003 12:08:

Paul Oakenfold is to me the main guy in trance

Posted by Stanza on Oct-31-2003 10:25:

Definitely Oakenfold. PVD was only officially classified as a trance dj after his remix of Binary Finary's '1998'. Before that not many ppl labelled him as a trance DJ or producer.
