-- Pvd @ Glow!!!!
Pvd @ Glow!!!!
All I can say about last night is, "WOW!" That was one of the craziest nights I have had in a while. Starting with the pre-party meetup at Cafe Asia where the food was great, but the service was mediocre, and continuing all the way to the arrival at Glow was a real experience. On the way over we got stuck in traffic for a good hour, during which jdat's car broke down. Definitely wasn't cool but it made for a few laughs. Once we parked and got in it turned out that PVD had not even come on yet, even though it was already close to 1am. When he finally came on the place was juiced. Everyone was ready to hear some crazy beats and he really delivered. I think this is the best PVD set I have ever heard. Track selection was off-the-hook, crowd was amped the whole time, Paul was as friendly as ever. He took so much time to sign autographs and was dancing and smiling the whole time. It was a big change from his normal shy demeanor. I was really impressed. And for any of you who were there, especially Arturo, let's get an ID of that "Wonderful" track that's all in German. Absolutely amazing! I was so glad that he dropped it multiple times. It was just a great night and I can't wait to see you guys back there in November for Tiesto/Ferry/Armin.
I wasn't at glow...but about that track, it was Wolfsheim - Wundervoll, most likely a remix. Heard him play it twice in Atlanta, good stuff
Thanks man. Yea I just got the ID from the Glow board too. It's the Blank & Jones Remix of it. I'm very very excited for that to come out on vinyl cuz it could definitely make for a devastating part of my sets.
wish i was at glow that night! tracklist sounds sweet!
PvD spun exactly the kind of set I like to hear from him. I'm not too keen on fluffy Velveeta trance and always like my music like my coffe, strong and dark. I can honestly say that Paul spun what was probably my fourth or fifth favorite set of his in the States...and I've seen him a LOT all over the place. After his uninspiring last set at the Roxy, his lackluster Central Park gig and after the release of Reflections, an album so poorly mixed that you could put your CD player on shuffle and not notice, I was afraid that perhaps PvD was becoming the next Tiesto. I was afraid that he became lazy because of his commercial success. I was afraid that PvD would dumb down and soften his sets in the States because he thought that it was what the audience wanted around here. Fortunately, Paul dispelled all of that at Glow.
The best way to describe his set is to compare it to his last one at Space 34 last March during the WMC. For most of the night, PvD was merciless. I hadn't danced that hard since Tresor after the Love Parade. The highlight of the night for me was Crush. While it might not be the most powerful track in his arsenal, it was the first time I've heard it on a club sound system. Hearing it rise above the energy of the crowd was definitely a treat. I can't wait till November at the Roxy!
