bren-f - diamond dust (icone's dusty instr mix)
Hey all,
Here's a clip of my latest remix I did for Bren :
bren-f-diamond_dust__icones_dusty_remix_clip__128kbps_
Let me know what you think of it
Greetz,
Wim / LW
sounds gud to me, everythings perfect
its just simpley trance, nothing to it, nothing original that stands out exceptionally, if you get what i mean.
still good work, keep it up
eyyy... gimme the full hifi track... NNOOOOOOOOOWWWWWWW
sounds great man
Thanks Ande & dbl.
Bren asked me not to post the full track, sorry. Depends on what happens to the original
this is very well produced, everything sounds nice and polished but i think that it takes a lil too long for the main tune to come in, the breakdown is far too long, other than this, its a very good tune, well done
The Icone sound is really getting overused already.
Well Wim, you style has really been developed over time. Technically, it sounds full and fresh, but since I've been listening to Trance for years, I'm not too amazed anymore.
Overall - it sounds nice man. Keep up the good work.
U already know what I think of this mate
Quality
Once I have remastered the orig. I'm gonna send it off along with your remix & the JOC mix off to the big cheese at Discharge

Thanks for lending me your thoughts guys
leedearn :: everything is a little stretched in the main section, because there is only one like it in the entire track. But of cours,e you couldn't hear this in the short sample.
Mr.Mystery :: if you only come here to say that and think it would be something like Bedrock or DJ Scot Project, I think it's better to stay away and say nothing... Icone is Icone, I admit it and I won't change anything about its 'sound'. I'm sorry if this is not what you want, but this is how it is.
Bren :: Glad you like it mate, my pleasure for the remix
I asked Sarah for those vocals, she'll record them at better quality asap. When I have them, I will send them to you, if you still need them of course.
Kev :: I'm glad you see my point... If I would make something totally different with Icone, it wouldn't be Icone anymore. As so, you will hear Icone every time there's an Icone track or remix. I thought an artist's style was to do it this way? M.I.K.E.'s recognizing sounds always keep coming back - that's what makes him himself. Even with his different alter ego's (Push, Plastic Boy, MIKE, The Snapper, ...). Airbase kind of does the same thing - nobody ever seems to complain about that.
If you don't wanna hear Icone, don't download an Icone track - simple I think... Isn't this with all artists?
Thanks again for the comments!

so much for changing the kick
try adding some body and bass to the synth rather than expanding the high end so much to give it a more rounded sound as it feels slightly detached from the mix, nice work tho
Thanks for the comment Luke
Should I add more mid-low freqs, like around 200-400 Hz maybe? Thicken the lead a bit more. I'm having a bit trouble adding deep bass to my basslines, maybe it's the samples that aren't good for every bassline, I don't know.
I don't say I won't take bad comment, I really like constructive comments (like yours). I just didn't really have much to build on from that particular post, so I don't really know what to do with it... If you know what I mean. For example, does that mean I have to go pure hardtrance or chillout with Icone or something else, with a totally different sound?
laterz,
Wim
Gotta agree with Luke about the less phase on the thingy-ma-bob. It seems to be drawing my concentration away from the actual melody.
Still sounding great though. Can't fault anything else...
to get deeper bass simply add a bass as a sub, something simple like one of the 3xOSC presets like pure bass 7 or 8 will do the trick, just make the note 2 16ths long and place it on the off kick...
eg.
kick x---x---x---x---
bass --BB--BB--BB-BB-
the bass is one whole note tho,
put the sub on a separate fx channel, 7 band eq is good to sort this, turn all but the 2 lowest freq. down and turn them up as necessary, make sure there is no delay or reverb on that.
u may want to do this on proper stereo speakers or summat so can compare the low frequences accurately to other songs.
also, lose the shakers, they are well fruity
and don't be scared to boost the bass of the lead aswell as the mid to give it more bite
if u wanna do a collab i'd be more than willing to abuse you at every step of the way
good remix, well done wim-always impressing.
i think what people are trying to say is as good as the icone sound is, maybe a different approach and sounds (i.e kick shakers 16ths basses instead of sub basses or off basses)
also, the compression on the latest icone tracks seem very crunchy...if this is the word-maybe a more cleaner softer trance sound-less harsh?
but i love all icone stuff anyway...these are just some useless comments
Luke :: I will try that mate, thanks! I did add some sub bass already to some tracks, but due to compression it doesn't always come through as it should. Perhaps I shouldn't compress it at all? I didn't know shakers could be 'fruity'... It's not any fruity samples hehe. But I see what you're getting at.
John :: I see your point mate. I did use some different synths in this one I thought? Gotta check out that T-Racks preset, it is causing me nothing but trouble so it seems on that compression thing...
You gotta fill me in on those basses though, cause I have not too much knowledge of that "pro-music-talk"
hehe, its not pro at all wim, more like rubbish talk :P
basically most of ur icone tracks have basses in a 16th pattern arpeggiator?
like in 1 kick
|--|--|--|--|
b b b b
some times its interesting to randomly place softer bass notes and put loads of delay on them and it usually sounds better than an aggressive gouryella/icone style du dun ni ni bass
if u get me
.
more bass synth and less bass bass.
that might sound dumb....but it works!
Nice work on this one Wim... very trancey... very smooth, well produced... this is my first time hearing anythig under 'Icone' and I must say I like it!
Any other aliases you're using now?
John ::
my basses don't really have arps, some of them have; others just have a similar structure, but more something from the top of my head. I'll give it a shot, thanks!
Boy Trance :: thanls mate, glad you like it. i'm not using any of my other aliases right now actually, today everything is 'icone'
Here's some pictures of basslines I used in Icone tracks :

Sebraaa12 :: thanks for the idea and your comment! it's not that because they don't use it that's it's forbidden though. i don't know about snarerolls, but i do hear alot of reversed cumbals lately

| Originally posted by Boy trance I'm sorry, I disagree with that entirely. Just because the TYPE of trance you listen to doesn't have SNARES in it, doesn't mean that ALL types don't. Lightworks will put together whatever HE likes to listen to, and what sounds right to him. |
Keep up the good work in that respect! -Mental
