Ron Arad Was Paralyzed To Prevent Escape
14:32 Oct 10, '03 / 14 Tishrei 5764

According to the testimony of three Iranian exiles, Ron Arad, unable to walk, was held until at least three years ago in a small and secret prison cell in northern-Teheran.

The Hebrew news site Ynet contains a detailed account of the testimonies of the three Iranian exiles who said they saw Ron Arad. According to the picture drawn by the three - which is being treated respectfully but cautiously by Israeli intelligence - Arad, unable to walk, was held at least until three years ago in a small and secret prison cell in northern-Teheran.

The testimonies of the three Iranians, which were gathered at different times over the past three years and mostly within the last three months, tell many heretofore unknown details of Ron Arad's tribulations over the past ten years. In mid-'94, the Iranians purchased him from Mustafa Dirani, who took cruel control of him in Lebanon, has since been captured by special IDF forces, and is now being held in Israel.

The Iranians brought him to Hizbullah headquarters in Lebanon, and later took him to Iran for a security interrogation. Arad was dressed in an Iranian Revolutionary Guard uniform and placed on a well-guarded truck bound for Damascus.

One source said that while still in Syria, a cruel operation paralyzing him at his knees and down was performed on him, in order to prevent him from trying to escape. He had apparently tried to do just that while still in Lebanon. The operation left Arad bound to a wheelchair. He was flown from Syria to Iran, held in various tightly-guarded buildings, and underwent some long interrogations sessions. No details on the interrogations were provided.

About five years ago, he was transferred to the prison in which he was seen three years ago and in which he might still be today. Each cell in the complex is 20 square meters in area, with no windows but with an air conditioning system. Two 24-hour video cameras are installed in each room, and the prisoners are taken out - one at a time - to breath fresh air twice a day.

One source said that he once asked Ron how he was doing, and received a short reply in Arabic, "with maybe a word in Hebrew as well." Arad was hospitalized at least twice because of heart problems.

Ron Arad was described as very thin and gaunt, with a sad and hollow expression, and as one who underwent tremendous hardships but has strong standing power.

Israeli sources say that the report has "more than an iota of truth."

A rally on behalf of Ron Arad will be held Thursday evening, October 16, at 19:30 at the Tel Aviv Museum Plaza in Tel Aviv.

HAHAHAHAHA.. I am very well aware at how cruel and idiotic the Iranian government is. They are religious extremists. In fact, I despise them just as much as the IDF. If this was an attempt to piss me off, then you failed.

My dads cousins was murdered by this government. Most IRanians that are living outside of IRan is to escape the stupid religious rules of that nation.

Well hopefully your country can attain its freedom through relatively peaceful means

Why, everyone else seems to be having a bloody coup these days.. its all the rage.

Seriously though, I think the greatest thing for the middle east right now is if Iran were to democratize peacefully, and enjoy its previous relations with the USA and Israel (hence netrualizing the middle east)

Love is in the air Iran

Hopefully the persians will be successful in their next revolution, without American intervention which I somehow doubt. If this works out, then Iran may become one of the most beautiful places in the world to live, and hopefully an example to the rest of the Arab countries to rise up against their own governments.

I don't care if it is or without out US intervention honestly, but I do want democratic Iran to have very friendly relations with the US, what are your thoughts on say a "new" Iran's relations with the US (and god forbid, Israel)?

I hope so too. I want a free democratic Iran without ANY religious power/ During the 70's at IRans height, this nation was so beautiful... it had a strong tourist industry, and cities were becoming modernized. But Dubai has taken that role now. People really underestimate Irans beauty, they think its all desert and palm trees.

Persepolis, the Ancient city of Cyrus and Darius...Kings of ancient persia.

Persian chicks are hot too.

Yoepus

You're right, it's come to the point were the means of freeing the country has become irelevant. Whether by peaceful means or military intervention. Peaceful revolution is of course preferable but it's come to the point that people interviewed in Iran were saying they'd rather die by Bush's bombs than the slow death imposed by the Mullahs.

Thank you all for the support peeps

a friend of mine from Iran in toronto told me the same thing as you guys! Everyday as much as I hope for the end of the problems in Israel, I hope for the end of the problems in the Iran and other occupied countries. My friend told me that Iran would be a super power if it were not for the extremists. I believe him that Iran would be a very great country! Apparently Iran has like some of the nicest lakes and bodies of water?? I think soon Iran will be overthrown?? How long can this go on for ??

Personally I have no idea about the details, but I imagine with brutality like Illusion mentioned with his mother being beaten (so sad ) how can they have a living rebellion?? Where is its base and how far are they from overturning the current government???

It would be such a good thing for Israel too!

It is all about Isreal isnt it??hey lets destroy a country, but it is ok,as long as we are happy!!

Anyways I do hope that things change in Iran, without interference of U.S or any other country, last time we got fucked over because of America bringing the Mullahs, lets see what they have in store for us this time.I just pray to god that the Mojahedin wont get involve in any of this, because if they get the power, things will be even worst as it is now.If you think the current regime is religious, then wait till you see the Mojahedins

At the end I just hope for the best, and hope that the poeple IN IRAN will make the right decision.

The mother of a a good friend of mine was an Iranian political prisoner, i'm not sure of the specifics, but she was able to chose exile in australia over life imprisonment because she had friends in powerful places

It would help neutralise the collective paranoia of the whole area, and maybe cause a domino effect of democratic revolutions in the region. Only a peaceful resolution within the government would work though, if democracy is coerced upon them by foreign countries, or if it happens through a bloody coup, leaders of other middle eastern nations would become more paranoiac than ever

I saw a documentary on Iranian peasants and farmers, it's a very peaceful culture, if a stranger was to walk into a poor farmers house, the farmer would offer his own food just to appease the guest, even if that means his family goes hungry

it's beautiful, but is it aesthetically universal?

The element for change in Iran is there...its being held back by the clerical elite who dominate the government even though there is a movement for change led by democratic student supporters. I think that the unemployment and inflation rates that are rising will no doubt strike a blow to them in some way, but this could only mean more crackdowns. I don't think that branding them an Axis of Evil nation helped much, and only strengthened this theocratic gov'ts resolve against the Western bloc

this is a big problem

meh..

The best way to perdict the future is to look to the past.

Look at the human race for instance. Despite all of ours flaws we have grown in knowledge, wealth and numbers and chances are we'll be even better off in the future. So I'm optimistic

peace
