Talking The Year Electronica Music Peaked

There has been an overall downward trend in electronica music from late 90s to early 00s.

Before you choose an answer and say "This is a no-brainer", consider this statement:

"In what year do you think Dance & Electronica music peaked the most in terms of percentage of people around the world listening to the genre?"

Please state the reason, if you wish, that will be greatly appreciated.

BTW, I chose 1995, for the amount of dance music produced, the popularity of the many well known classics, and that's the year dance & electronica would begin to shift to change ... (slowly at first).

Gotta give my props for the all the old-school pioneers who paved the way for today.

LOL, fill me in here ... why did you choose that year? By any chance, does that have anything to do with the rise of first type of electronica music, Disco?

When I started this thread, I was thinking if I was should add an option "NOT YET", but then I thought that everyone will choose it and will be totally irrelevant to the whole idea of the thread. I know we all strong electronica music fans, but you gotta face the reality ...

1998 into 1999 so I chose 1999. It declined after that and now in 2003 it's starting to rise again. This year was a good year for electronica.

If you read through the above posts, then you'd notice that this was mentioned before. This thread is not a permanent one, but to vote on the year electronica peaked from the time of its birth until the end of 2003. This thread will exprire in the beginning of 2004, so until then this thread shall reflect the TAs' opinions on the year electronica peaked AT THE MOMENT.

Please understand that, as I believe that electronica will rise again, and higher than it ever did before, the time will come ... But concentrate on the current timeline, OK!

how can you say if its peaked or not? i mean what are you basing this on, your general opinion of the music scene in your area?

i mean have you looked at record sales over the passed decade. seen which year did the best? what about global rave/club attendance, has that gone up or down?

i personally don't think edm has hit its peak yet, i don't think its anywhere close to peaking yet. i mean look just this year, 1 dj(tiesto) had a solo stadium concert for 25,000+ people.

I don't know, It's getting really hard for me to explain to some of you the point of this thread. YES, ELECTRONICA PROBABLY HASN'T REACHED ITS PEAK YET, and YES, choose the answer based on OVERALL STATISTICS (too dam many to mention) for the year you think electronica peaked AS OF/UP UNTIL THIS YEAR
