What rejected remix was turned into 'Tranquility Base - Razorfish'?

Pulled from the Anjunabeats new site (www.anjunabeats.com) this interesting info on one of my fave tracks Tranqulity Base - Razorfish

"
Tranquility Base was started as a side project to enable us to release a remix which was rejected. Wed tried to make a certain record sound a little cooler than it did, and we thought wed succeeded. Unfortunately, the A&R man (who shall remain clueless) disagreed, describing our mix as crap. Secretly we were delighted, as a rejected remix is a free track for us, so we changed the riff and put it out under a pseudonym. It remains our favourite production - somehow we made a perfect sounding record - and with the magic words progressive mix on the sleeve we started picking up plays from virtually every major DJ wed ever heard of, including Paul van Dyk, Tiesto, Armin van Buuren, Ferry Corsten, Dave Pearce, and even Sasha.

Incidentally, as if to prove the idiocy of the A&R man in question, when we sent him the finished version he rang back straight away, screaming I love this new track youve done - dont sign it to anyone until you talk to me!

We did neither.
"

so what do people think it was? I have NO idea

hmm interesting...

It might have been a remix for Tilt - Invisible...

Maybe the Madonna track?

It must be Tilt - Invisible, but that's an interesting story nevertheless.

Razorfish is a good song although I'm surprised it's so immensly popular. Still, quality stuff.

(Invisible is better)

As I said, "I'm surprised it's so immensly popular."

And to the above poster, if they say Sasha played it, maybe he did? How would you know anyway?

Posted by infinity HiGH on Oct-16-2003 16:25:

Ya I know...there's no possible way you would know whether Sasha played it or not.

He played Tilt's stuff, and if this is supposedly a remix of Invisible, then it's very possible.

Invisible rocks, btw.

edit actually, this doesn't sound like something Sasha would play. But hey, you never really know for sure

Good answer, I bet you guys are totally right on this one To be honest I think they improved the riff, and I'd agree it's their finest work. Not sure if I prefer the 'Banging' or 'Full On' remix more though.

Its one of my fav A&B productions too! My fav is Progressive Mix. Aspekt's Chillout Mix is great as well.

Full On Mix is just a subtle revamp of Bangin' Mix, keeping very much to the original formula.

I have been listening to Sashas sets for years, and this tune is not the type of stuff that would go in a Sasha set. Maybe is he pitched it down, it would be somewhat playable for him.

razorfish is awesome.. have had it on my minidisk along time now nad i still have it..... have listened to it atleast a 100 times..

Nah, Insigma rips off Invisible too.

And I know, it doesn't exactly sound like something Sasha would play but there's a fair chance that if he had, they'd know about it. Anyway, doesn't really matter one way or the other.

Posted by Tweak on Oct-17-2003 03:50:

Posted by Excite on Oct-17-2003 04:01:

defintely sounds like tilt - invisible..

and i'm pretty sure sasha never touched this record.

Does anyone else notice that the riff in Razorfish (A&B Banging mix) sounds exactly like the riff in Humate - Love Stimulation?
