Surprising article--they outkill the U.S.!

| Reprinted from NewsMax.com Wednesday, Oct. 15, 2003 South Africa and Sweden Outkill the U.S. The blame-America-firsters such as stupid white man Michael Moore try to depict the United States as a hotbed of murder and violence, but this time they're even wronger than usual. South Africa is the world's bloodiest nation, The Economist notes, with a shocking 114.8 murders for each 100,000 people, compared to only six in the U.S. and two in Japan, according to Interpol. More than 21,000 South Africans were killed last year, "worse than some war zones." Other countries that outkilled the U.S. on Interpol's list aren't a surprise: Brazil, Russia, Botswana, Zambia, Angola. But here's one that might startle you: Sweden, supposedly the land of granola-munching socialist peaceniks, had 10 murders for every 100,000 people. Yes, Sweden is branching out and is no longer just Suicide Central. Maybe Stockholm will take a cue from our Second Amendment and allow its citizens the right to defend themselves from its out-of-control population of greasy-haired blond killers. |

the problem in Sweden certainly isn't to few guns. there is a couple of main reasons why it is like that:
Nr one, Sweden only has about 15 000 cops, in a country with 9 million people that is not to many...
Nr two, some years ago there was an unsuccessful reform of the Swedish psychopathic policies. it has resulted in to many mentally ill people out on the streets. Last year they (the mental ill people...) where up to about 30% of all murders. And yes we are on our way doing a new reform...
Yah I was going to add, along with what St Andrew said,
Swedens pop of 9mil will obviously skew statistics. Of course a 'per' number will appear higher. But beyond that they dont need a 2nd Amendmend- they do have guns, rifles and whatnot. Its really more of just the overall cultural ideal of non-violence that keeps the numbers down for the large part I believe|
One thing that surprises me is why no one is discussion the Anna Lindh murder. She was 2nd behind Goran Persson, the countries PM - and murdered while shopping in broad daylight. Its quite shocking, and moreso that they cannot catch the murderer, much like when Olaf Palme was assassinated in the 80s...
In Dagens Nyheter, one of the main newspapers in Stockholm, they were discussing how the law prohibiting the display faces of suspects in crimes was directly influence arrests. They have multiple photos of the subject, but since the general public cannot ID him from the news, thos 15000 cops are having a hell of a time finding him-|

Sweden is the country with the highest standards of living. In every aspect. I went once on a trip, for like only 2 days though. But it was fascinating. Awesome country. I loved it. Waitresses there arent Swedish, but from other countries.. its like, they wont go that low. For real. They are so prepare against any war and everything else. Its gov't and economy are one of the bests. So it is surprising to see that high killing rate.. really.
And the chicks.. OH MY JEEEEZ!!! its heaven!
And by the way..
NESTLE! < Enough said hehehehe

LOL! just checked that figures out. If you count all kind of murders plus all physical abuse with a deadly ending, there are 2.4 murders for each 100 000 people in sweden... that isn't much
Edit:
Shakka: what is that for kind of newssite? don't trust their figures
I wouldn't take this site too seriously

Actually read an article about living standards some time ago. They did not only take GDP into consideration, but a lot of other factors. Sweden placed FIRST on that list. So Sweden is the world's best country to live in
I think Denmark placed 2 and norway 3 and US somewhere around 20!
And still thoose figures about murders in sweden are WRONG! and i want to know what kind of source that is? Shakka!?

| Originally posted by St_Andrew Checked it up with the swedish authority dealing with crime statistics. According to them there where 219 murders 2002, or 2.4 for each 100 000 people... and that was included all physical abuse with a deadly ending.. don't know what else they could count in?! so they have to lie about it |
another link on the topic;
http://cphpost.sites.itera.dk/default.asp?id=34392
seems like St. Andrew is right though; I check interpol for myself:
http://www.interpol.int/Public/Stat...ownloadList.asp
Sweden shares around 1.97-1.87 (2000,2001) "crime per volume" for 100,000 ppl. Compared this with the USA which is around 5.6 (2001)
I guess another urban myth - the news source above seems to state why this was however, as 900 ppl commit suicide supposedly (haven't verified this) each year in Sweden... damn, if Sweden is such a good place to live, why are so many ppl killing themselves each year? What they can't stand the cold... why don't they go stay warm then with your beautiful blondes?
