If you go back to cigarettes, god will kill a kitten! So don't!

Its great that you've gone 45 days (!!) without a cig.

If you start smoking again (yeah, its probably really tempting) then when you want to quit again, you'll have to do that 45 days all over. Why put yourself through that? Be kind to yourself. If my roommate went 45 days without smoking, she says she would NEVER EVER smoke again because she'd never want to go through that first 45 days again.

If that makes sense. Go for 50 and see how you feel. If you still want a cig, go for 51. You know, little steps. In my opinion, 45 days is a great beginning.

Talking

perhaps smoke some other substance?

i havent given up smoking entirely...so i smoke something else

but well done on the 45 days

The first week or two are the hardest. Don't go back now that you've lasted a month and a half. It's not worth it.

i try to go with only having 1 a day. :/ its pretty hard as it is

45 days is nuts.

i quit smoking and it was rough... 45 days is a long time so to turn back now would be a bloddy shame! This is what i did so maybe it can help. In canada and most of north america i think we have sunflower seeds that we eat by putting them in your mouth and cracking the shell with your teeth and then spitting out the shell. For those who know what im talking about sorry for the retarded description but i have a bunch of friends in Germany and when they came to visit, someone gave them a bunch of sunflower seeds at a baseball game and they thought it was bird food. So i dont' know if you have had these before but it was good to eat them because it kept my hands occupied and my mouth so i didn't have such a craving to pick up a ciggarette. Also try chewing massive amounts of gum.. but the first idea is better. GOOD LUCK!

I quit about a year ago. At the same time I started working out like crazy in the gym (1.5 hours every day). Haven't had the urge to smoke after a month. I don't work out nearly as much now, but I haven't gone back to smoking, either.

I'm probably the heaviest smoker on TA. And I gave up for 6 weeks but fucked up when I went on holiday to Greece as I got hammered every night, and the whole set up getting used to things etc made me crumble and I started smoking again.

I can easily smoke 80 Cigarettes on a night out, and if you don't believe me ask any UKTA who knows me there isn't a moment I haven't got a cig in my mouth.

But I'm determined to have another go once I get motivated again. I tried gum then patches, the gum was shit but the patches worked with normal chewing gum, only problem I was absolutly fucking hyper and I wouldn't shut the fuck up on them lol.

I work at a small grocery store.

One day this couple, with a small 7-8 year old boy comes through my check out line. Obviously rather poor (not trying to be mean, but they were rather grungy). They put the food on the belt, and the child says "We can have dinner tonight mommy!" in a very happy, inocent child-like way.

After they pay for the food with food stamps, the woman takes out the few dollars in her wallet, and buys ciggarettes.

Now, I think smoking is a bad habit, but when it harms your child, it's just completely fucked. Just something to think about, if a bit off topic.

Don't give the tobacco companies another lifetime victim. My grandpa died from cancer from smoking for many years. You can do it man!

Thats sad Poor kid. They should obviously be spending their money on essentials, not items that arent necessary. Yeah, their smoking is bad for their kid's health too. I remember when i was young i really couldnt take the smell of smoke.
