i'll take your word for it! im not much of a beer drinker but my dad enjoys a good Guinness!

Never had Guiness out of a can. Does it have that metallic taste that most beers do when out of a can?

Posted by Dj O'Callaghan on Oct-17-2003 00:06:

Aye its quite good watching it settle. Only problem is the Guiness in the Uk tastes like fucking shite. I have to go to an Irish pub in Covernt Garden in London where its imported over to have the proper Irish taste. When you have a pint of it in Eire its the best you don't know what your fucking missing out on.

However problem with me pals over here they can't drink Guiness so ever ST Pats I end up having free 12 pints with all the coupons I get given for it, then I can guarentee my guts will get fucked up by it.

5 pints of Guiness is alright anymore you get too bloated.

I've been told the same thing is true 4 guiness usa import, im not sure if they pasturize it. I still think its great cause ive never drank the non-import.

I could be wrong, but I think the american version is either brewed in America under license by another brewery, or Guiness have a brewery in the US.

I don't think its imported.

I wouldn't trust anything that says import on it very much, take a look at the back label it might be brewed in the USA. However your in CT Conneticat? sorry about the spelling I'm fucking drunk anyways, but thats near Boston if I'm right? I'm sure if you go over there and ask for a real proper Irish pub they'll have proper Imported stuff on tap and I tells yer it will taste fucking grand.

Hey! haha I've got that on like an old tin picture type thingy on my kitchen wall!

Posted by tubby on Oct-17-2003 00:51:

at least it tastes decent out of a can now they have those widgets. I've got a dozen cans of guiness left over from about 7 years ago before they had widgets, tastes so sweet, kind of like it still does in the bottle. I cannot bring myself to drink it, yet i can't make myself throw it out either

nothing to do with being 7 years old then?

seriously though widgets are fucking evil things.. guy who invented them is a twat.

Guinness is the king of drink, ive seen barmen in the uk just pull a pint like any other pint - u need to tilt the glass to a 45 degree angle , id say the guinness everywhere else apart from ireland is dirt

Guiness Draught = my favorite

The wiget releases nitrogen when the can is opened. This in turn has the effect of making a big fluffy head (or foam) on the top of the beer. It also has the effect of removing most of the carbonation from the rest of the beer.

IMO canned beer is bad enough, and this just makes it worse
