Andain - Beautiful Things: What does the lyrics mean?

I've been listening to Andain - Beatiful Things for the past few months and I even got the lyrics from the net and tried to make some sense of it all, but I just cant seem to figure out what that girl is trying to say. This song is such an exelent one and it will make me so happy if someone could give there interpretations of the lyrics PLZ!!

emptiness

I think that it's about overcoming a depression --> She forget that she could see beautiful things.

Got up early, found something's missing
My only name.
No one else sees but I got stuck,
And soon forever came.
Stopped pushing on for just a second,
Then nothing's changed.
Who am I this time, where's my name?
I guess it crept away.

No one's calling for me at the door.
And unpredictable won't bother anymore.
And silently gets harder to ignore.
Look straight ahead, there's nothing left to see.
What's done is done, this life has got it's hold on me.
Just let it go, what now can never be.

I forgot that I might see,
So many beautful things.
I forgot that i might need,
To find out what life could bring.

Take this happy ending away, it's all the same.
God won't waste this simplicity on possibility.
Get me up, wake me up, dreams are filling
This trace of blame.
Frozen still I thought I could stop,
Now who's gonna wait.

No one's calling for me at the door.
And unpredictable won't bother anymore.
And silently gets harder to ignore.
Look straight ahead, there's nothing left to see.
What's done is done, this life has got it's hold on me.
Just let it go, what now can never be.

Now what do I do?
Can I change my mind?
Did I think things through?

It was once my life
It was my life at one time. (it was more live i wanted?)

- After the last part comes the break and she isnt singing anymore -> suicide?!

Posted by kr00t0n on Oct-17-2003 11:45:

suicide makes the most sense to me, and if it is, makes the track that much more moving

Posted by whiskers on Oct-17-2003 14:42:

yes, seems like a song about depression / suicide to me, slighty anti, but at the same time not

I believe the song is about the mediocrity of everyday life and how you can fall into a pattern of just goin thru the motions of everyday life. Than she realizes that there is more to life, you just have to "stop pushing on for just one second" and you can notice the "beautiful things" in life

that is probably the best explanation of it i've heard to date.

That's a rather optimistic spin on it. Think suicide.

The "perfect" suicide...

[Got up early, found something's missing My only name.]
[Who am I this time, where's my name? I guess it crept away.]

The name/identity of yours is just meaningful when there are other people know about.
So...
[Look straight ahead, there's nothing left to see.
What's done is done, this life has got it's hold on me.]
And then...
[Just let it go, what now can never be.]

Obvious enough?

the song is about not taking the time out to see all the wonderful things life has to offer - to not follow the path that is cut out for you, but the one you choose for yourself.

at least that's what the lyrics mean to me

That's the beauty of lyrics that you don't get an explanation for - they mean just what you want them to mean.

think his remark about where have you been referred to younot listening to the track till now...or maybe not

n e wayz, sym's view of the lyrics is pretty nice one indeed. Many have thought of suicide being the tracks reason, I for one thought of starting a new life/relationship when I first listened to this track (and died!).

this is what the lyrics mean to Dave so I think we can get many thoughts about this amazing song, each of us from his own heart about the meaning of him/her personal life..
