On looking through the vast collection of Midi's posted by Cloudburst HERE
I noticed the Midi for this track sequenced by Mr Burst himself (nice one mate )
So I just had to remix it
Now for those of you now scrambling to get the midi file I will tell U that the notes are not 100% correct, each chord only consists of 2 notes where as it should be three. I've ammended that in my remix

Anyway onto the track.
I've put a lot of time into this. Those who have heard some of my
other stuff should know what to expect Screaming Lead, rolling bass, big bass drum ect ect
Although its no where near as good as the brilliant 'DuMonde' remix, I feel I have done the track some justice with my mix

All critique positive & negative welcomed

duuude that is awesome, i loooove the bassline on it, only thing it lacks imo is the huuuugeness, its like the main synth is a lil bit weak, other than that its amazing!

Downloading, now!

I know the midi isn't 100% correct, it was 15 minutes of work making that midi, cus I wanted to remix that song ages ago, when I heard a clip posted on the net! But I never got around finishing it...

Anyway, listening now!

Nice BD.. 00:58 nice percs.. the boom kick is a bit loud..
and the main lead lacks something...it has the typical Reason sound, that I'm not too keen on, but it works. The mix sounds a bit muddy too and pushed towards the hi-freqs on some sounds... Like the bass a lot.. Nice work!

Downloading your 3rd Earth remix...

Posted by Cloudburst on Oct-18-2003 22:59:

About the midi, I think you could just copy the bass notes and paste them in a few key higher, so the first note is on A.. plus there's some additional work..

Hey

heres the edited midi file :Here

as U can see its almost exactly the same but I have added in the extra notes.
EG: the midi orignally started with the chord:
F
D
but now I have added the 3rd note to the chords so its now:
F
A
D

Woooo! Bass is awesome, but sounds a bit weak, although that could be my shit laptop speaker, heh. Otherwise, love it Bren. Keep up the great work!

I beat you to it!

The part around 00:20, with the fast up and downs, isn't correctly sequensed, the keys are right, but there's a slightly different rythm there in the original.

And the last bass note shouldn't be just D, there's a variation there, that I forgot to add.

sounds good..... really nice BD and bass.

but the lead lack's power i think

Oh well

Cheers for all the comments guys

I really need to sort my synths out, unfortunatly reason sucks for putting power into lead synths lol :P

Posted by Icone on Oct-18-2003 23:16:

Nice one again Bren, really dig its drive. Good percs like always and steady bassline (sounding ace through both headphones and hifi - gotta check speakers ).

Melody is nicely fit in, maybe a tad too quiet though - maybe too detuned as well? It has that mono sounding feel to it, heard this when it built at around 6:30.

Since I don't really know the original that well, I can't see any 'wrong' notes here or something of that kind.

Good job once again mate

Wim

Must be possible though... maybe layer more synths on top of each other? In his early days, I think Jezper/Airbase sometimes layered up to 4 synths (Malstroms, Subtractors,...).

Posted by Bren-F on Oct-18-2003 23:22:

Cheers for the comments Wim :

I've actually used 1 Subtractor & 2 NN19 samplers with a JPSupersaw & NordSaw samples

Posted by Luke Terry on Oct-18-2003 23:53:

Cool

add lower mid and bass to drive leads more, detune them a bit and make the notes closer to make it feel faster or just make the bass more energetic, tbh i have no idea myself i just fart on then delete what ive done lol

Posted by Floorfiller on Oct-19-2003 00:35:

first off, let me say that Bren...you're doing a great job with all your mixes...they sound great...

but...the only thing i've noticed is that they all are very similar when it comes to the breakdowns and the sequencing of the tracks...i wish you would maybe experiment a little bit...you got a lot of talent...

Posted by TrAnCeAkI on Oct-19-2003 02:22:

yeah i agree uve got lots of talent! sounds really good! melody and bassline are perfect for my standards that is!!

great job once again!

keep em coming!

Pretty cool Bren, the percussion and bass work really well.

I love the Symsonic melody, but to me it sounds like it goes a bit wrong in once place.

The synths.. well, they are the weak point of the track to me. They are by no means bad, but they sound a little too amateur. The lead does lack power and is a little harsh and detuned as mentioned by Lightworks.

What you do with these synths is sound though, excellent structure overall.

Posted by Shepless on Oct-19-2003 12:12:

Read This!

Sounds good Bren,

great breakdown, those are your trade mark IMO

Not too keen on the main synths however what MK-S and Icone said apply, but im not keen on the arrangement I found it a bit annoying....sorry matey!

Percussion was great, bass was excellent (u always deliver a good bassline) and that acid was top notch!

Overall, a good good effort but main synths really let the song down IMO!

Thanks for all the input everyone

So everyone likes the mix except for the Lead ?

I'll have to get that sorted for my next track.
I actually thought the flanger I had added to a couple of the samples I have used would have sorted that. Apparently not

Posted by teo on Oct-19-2003 17:15:

aaa...just heard it...i cant remember the original but this rmx as a whole track is very nice...love ur breakdown as always...

Posted by JohnOC on Oct-20-2003 13:48:

nice percussion and FX
that melody is sweet, ive never heard the orig so this is a really great track to have.
