Why does Delirium not put trance or prog areas at their "festivals"?
I'm sure I'm not alone when I say I am frustrated with Delirium (Perth's biggest promoter) not putting any areas at their dance festivals for progressive or trance. I agree that trance in the sun is crap but there is no reason you can't get a room and black out the windows if it's big enough with good ventilation. I actually talked to one of their staff and asked why they canned the trance area at Delirious Summer Festival earlier this year and she said "trance is crap". With an attitude like that I hope that Mellen Events (Future's WA arm) moves in on their turf big time!

post their email address ill show them whos crap
because most of the prog & trance dj's charge enormous fees
if you're talking in response to the Global Festival, think about it, Carl Cox, Ben Sims, & Cypress Hill + loads of others
there's not much cash left for a trance or prog dj is there.
they have Sean Quinn playing in the main room anyway.
just wait til new years day...
the female you were probably talking to was either Essx (techno goddess), or a Loaded Dice employee
OK I haven't acutally listened to trance in the sun so I'll concede that point. While I agree it would cost shitloads to bring the guys out that they are bringing, they seem to have this whole "anti-trance" thing going on and it's not the first time they have ignored the Perth trance crowd.
I'm cautiously optimistic about Sunshine People, although I'm not expecting much trance apart from Tiesto. I'm expecting they'll have Adam Kelly play a progressive set then have Tiesto & that'll be as trance as it gets over the 12 hours the rave is on for.
I agree john, but slade is right.... Delirium would be spending a fair bit to secure tiesto for nyd, so they probably didnt have enough moola to put a big trance dj at Global as well. Its a shame but it will still be a killer party. You also have to remember that the trance following in WA isnt as big as over east. We have to many dnb freaks. But hopefully that will change.
Mellen seem to be bringing a lot of trance djs over next year (including ferry and AVB) so hopefully they will pick up what delirium stop putting on.
Bring on summer!

ive noticed this too...
but thinking back to science fiction at the end of last year, they had sasha, infusion and others in the largest room there so its not ALL bad
Delirium seem to be moving towards promoting hip-hop. Look at all the amount of hiphop acts that they have been promoting over the last year or so - and im guessing hiphop acts would be far more expensive than trance acts.
I also heard from one of thier lackies that they are in a spot of financial troubles (unsubstantialted: dont quote me on this), that could explain the lack of expensive trance acts??
I think mellen are doing a pretty good job of things trancewise, OeP have also be doing an excellent job with their psy and trance parties.
I think a key thing missing from some of the more recent events is production (ie. lighting, lazers, new venues, venue decor, ect...), i hope this will improve
One of the main problems perth has is it has alot of 'delirium ravers' who only goto events because there is a silly butterfly on the fliers/posters.
I think omega should maybe look at getting rooms in the bigger events like loaded dice has to promote their name, and convert some people - this may lead to greater turn-up at their standalone events.
thats the end of my 2c
You also need to realise that Delirium has a close affiliation with Agent Mad. Basically any of the dj's Agent Mad get, there's about a 90% chance Delirium will have them too. So in the end, it really depends on who's coming out to Australia and who's not. And in terms of trance, Future get them before Agent Mad do.
