To all the Djs...... how long is your <?>
this is mainly for all the djs out there i suppose
weather professional
getting many gigs
or just the (for themoment called the) no namers comming up in the scene
whats the longest set you ever played?
where was it?
and did anything strange happen/?
am i the only female dj here?
and am i the only one that stops to just take a PEE break LOL
6hrs and 45 mins for my gf's birthday party @ my place this summer..
i usually spin 2.5 ~ 3hrs for my monthly party here in NYC..

I spinned together with another dj(erix) a 6-7 hour set for about 600 ppl at a convention party here in Finland. 5 hours is pretty usual for me.

played at a rave, two other djs were supposed to come and we were going to play 10 hours between the 3 of us. it ended up that neither of them showed up, and i played the entire thing. thank god i took a 4 hour nap that day. it was so damn long and i could barely see after the set, but my mixing was so damn good by the end. i was actually sitting down and mixing for parts because my legs were tired hahahah!! its ok though, the pay was great, i got the money the other two were going to get plus more

who the hell cares....as long as the dj'ing goes fine, who cares if the dj stands or sits for 15 minutes?
an exception if you're very popular though. but then you usually do not play for more than 4 hours

ive always wondered why i never see djs sitting down? Like i dont htink i could stand for 7 hours straight, even at work i need a break! but props to those who do tough it out! you got my respect.
nothing wrong with a DJ sitting if you
ask me, of course, if he's a good DJ,
he'll either be too concentrated to sit
or the music'sbeat & rhythm simply wont
allow you to,for the most part.
but a DJ needs a breather every now and then!
Managed 14 hours one NYE.
My longest gig thus far was my first gig ever, which lasted 5 hrs...and I only played hardtrance/hardhouse and techno...it was a lot of fun but my knees hurt like hell after that

haha, i thought this thread was asking DJ's about the length of somethin' else! *cough* damn my dirty mind...
Friday night - Monday afternoon, on and off, no sleeping..

Resident DJ at a club named Amnesia (not the one in Ibiza) in Illinois. Been there for 2years, and started at the bottom. The bottom being the light guy. I now have worked my way up and have my own thursday nights and friday nights.
the longest gig Ive played was about 6 hours for our homecoming day. We close at 2am the night b4 and re-open at 5am for kegs and eggs. (big college tradition here) Im am the only one working the lights and booth, but its fun... the people are already hammered from the nite before so they are dancing as soon as they come in.
Longest set was 3 hours, recorded it in my dorm room
When I have to take a piss, I do it quickly after finishing a transition and putting the next tune on the platter

8 hours at small house party
Im amazed at how many noob's have 10+ hour sets.
Its starting to make me feel like this is a "how big is your shiat", based on the lenght of your set thread.
10 plus hours easily equals 200+ records. How many crates do you take with you? Hell when Im doing a 3 hour set on my thursdays I take 2 crates so i have a variety and can make it sound good. Do you guys just slam any ol record on?
*puzzled i guess*
