In addition, would the ppl at your school appreciate the music that they play? Something tells me that that isn't very likely...

good call. the people there would, but most have only heard of DJ sammy, etc. Most of the student council are trancers, so itd be easy enough to get it done, given a dj.

Quite a lot of Big names have done sets for charitys like World DJ Day and Red Nose Day.

True, but both those events got massive media coverage (i.e. live broacast from R1), so the PR djs would get to play there for free probably had a considerable amount of significance for the djs' decision to play there for free.

absolutely nobody?

Posted by irishclubbing on Oct-23-2003 10:25:

i ran a school party once. 2 djs. one hard trane and the other vocal trance. nobody liked it. they wanted pop and rock songs ! lol finished early because someone got bottled !

Posted by fitom tiel on Oct-23-2003 11:22:

i'm not a big name,
but i'd do it for transportation and accomodation

maybe a few drinks

Posted by sektile on Oct-23-2003 11:36:

absolutely no big names
and noone in your school would appreciate the music anyway

Posted by Dj onE on Oct-23-2003 16:12:

no big names...you have to have a certain amount of people to attend in order to have a big name dj come to a venue...they are not going to spin for a couple hundred people

Not only all the mentioned above but what big name dj would have the time? Im guessing this dance would be on a Fri ? People like Tiesto are booked solid on Fri probably two years in advance. Im not saying that ure gunning for Tiesto but Im sayin its highly unlikely to get someone big to play for 200 people at a high school.

Yer best bet for getting trance heard at a school dance is to DJ it youself and even then you would have to mix in commercial garbage to keep people happy.

Posted by trancer1999 on Oct-23-2003 18:59:

hmmm...even if a dj was to do it for charity, you would still have to provide travel and boarding arrangements...your best bet is to contact as many djs as possible...safety in numbers, law of averages...something's bound to turn up!

Posted by Shad0wmaster on Oct-23-2003 19:33:

i doubt you would be able to get big names to do it for charity, definitely not for a school party with a couple hundred people. and i also agree with everybody who said that that sort of music probably wouldn't have many appreciators anyway. Lots of people only want to hear commercial bullshit and hip-hop, chances are that the closest to trance they'd allow would be DJ Sammy. That's why trance is probably best left to the clubs.

considering where you live... probably nobody

DJ Jean, he's worthless though.

Posted by starglider on Oct-23-2003 22:22:

Why would any DJ want to play at your high school, let alone a big name?

Posted by punchline on Oct-24-2003 00:00:

Not only would the DJ have to do the gig for free, but they would also most likely have to pay for travel and hotel expenses out of pocket. I doubt you would find anybody big name that would agree to that for a school dance. You are better off looking at your regional selection of DJs if you are determined to get somebody.

get a school pole going on wat kinda music they want...if its trance that wins then find a good local dj. Big names got better things to do. Or find a washed up big name..lol...they aint got shit to do.

Posted by Strike on Oct-24-2003 04:40:

I'm sure they'll do it for charity if there was a certain cause.
But charity meaning free gig to help out your school? I doubt it

watch out DJ Keoki may rape the freshman boys

haha i had a dream just a little while ago, where i was back in highschool going to those stupid flors dis lis balls and such.
and Sasha was DJing it.
i remember talking to him before hand saying that i really loved his music blah blah blah, but that i didn't think any of the kids at the party would dig it.
sasha said "just watch"
the party was off the fucking hook. everyone was going crazy and was like "this music is awsome"

I also had a dream once where Steve Lawler was DJing some school dance of mine, and i got to open for him. and he relaly liked my set, and i remember going with him to go record songs under UNKLE.

ahhh only in my dreams....

Posted by Sgus on Oct-24-2003 12:51:

nobody would do that and the most important reason is that nobody is gonna apreciate the music....i don't think that u want to dj to a loosy party...imagine big names how disapointing it is for them....they want screeming fans..and that's normal...i don't thing it's about the money the problem...
