Producing reworks re-edits etc..

ok, well ill use pvd for example.... he has many tunes he has reworked and re-edit'd sometimes just takeing bits out or in the case of Project Zero - Omega six, changing the bassline....

what i wanna know is how do they change it?, i know its ahrder than cutting and pasting in Soundforge :P

iver heard in pro tools u can extract the vocals, or elements of a track if its recorded correctly so u can use them in any way u can?

can someone fill me in

I was thinking the same, with alot of PVDs edits he must get sent the files to work with otherwise I can't see how it's possible.

When you've been making tracks for as long as people like PVD, you would find it quite easy to copysomeone else's work.

As for using pro-tools to extract vocals, when you get someone to remix your song, you would give them the vocals track.

im not talking remixes.

reworks and re-edits the ones that are done for his personal use without permission from the original artist.

i.e

Blackeight - the silence - remoced vocal bit, but track seems normal like no sign of it being chopped up

Nick lunn & Yomc pres techno punk - energize - paul has changed the bassline and taken the womens vocals out except the "energize your soul" bit

i've always wondered this too...i've tried to do work in sound forge to create my own reworks/ reconstructions ala markus schulz hehehe, but i really can't figure out how they would do it without the samples. the same goes for acapella's layered over tracks...they must get those special from the artists cause they aren't on the vinyls most of the times. anyway, if anyone figures out how to do it...let me know

I managed to recreate PVDs re-edit of Noemi - You (Mezziah Mix) by purely chopping the original to pieces in Soundforge, it's pretty much identical. But he hasn't changed the B line on that one, he's just taken out the cheese from the original.

If i remember correctly, many producers ask the original artist for a "sample pack" for the track. Im sure if you are PvD, you can get samples to every track you want.

A lot of the time PvD will just remake the entire track on his own. As someone else said it's not terribly difficult for him to copy others =P

Markus uses protools for his work. As far as how he does it...no idea. My guess is finding isolated samples within the song to use in the reconstruction. I've tried this by getting the cutting up samples in soundforge, imported into acid pro and used the beat map wizard to make it seamless

His best remake/re-edit that comes to mind is Marco V - I feel you. And if you know the orignal, you would know there is no way in hell you can take the full vocals out of that, so I'm guessing Mr. PvD wrote Mr.Marco V a little e-mail and said and i quote

"Send me the raw vocals for "I feel you" bitch! Or I'm going to fuck you up at lovepade 2003
