Where in Asia are the parties?
I'm hoping to travel out to Asia over Christmas and the New year - ending up in Sydney during January.
Would love to spend some time at some parties. I hear that both Goa and Thailand have lost the edge. Where's the place to head for?
Any ideas gratefully received.
ooo thats a hard 1.
I have never been overseas before. But come to Melbourne, it goes off!!
lol, why do ppl think we know about Asia?
Sure, we live kinda near them, but i think we pissed a lot of them off haha, yer thanks Howard.
Anyway, theres au.tas travelling to Asia, so they might be able to answer.

yer I've heard bits and pieces about the moonlight raves in Thailand, but I dunno how you'd go about finding out more info... sorry
not a music specific website, but i'd suggest posting the question on the thorn tree over at lonely planet.com There's be plenty of backpacker-types over there who will know details of these sort of things
speaking with a couple of guys about the Thailand Full Moon Parties, I want to go .. they sound awesome
Full Moon party in Koh Samui on the 6th December - dont quote me on that exact date but im pretty sure its around then. I'll be doing the Thai islands and theres a party every night so if you are around Thailand, the southern beaches are the places to be !
Okay, well, I've been to both Goa in India and a full moon party in Thailand. While the parties in Goa mightn't be what they once were cos of commercialisation/the growth in the popularity of Goa as a destination, noise restrictions and the fact that they are very much illegal, they definitely still exist. They're especially huge over the New Year Period and will probably go non-stop for days in the areas around Anjuna and Vagator....Disco Valley, Bamboo Forest, 9 Bar, and Hill Top.
In Thailand the full moon parties take place on Koh Phangan (island near Koh Samui) and are definitely still very much happening. Bars/beach shacks and stages on the beach, lots of people and lots of music. Big Christmas and New Year's Eve beach parties are held there each year too.
I haven't been to any other party places in Asia, sorry, so that's about as much help as I can give you.
A big
from me I'm afraid .. though like someone else suggested, Lonely Planet is probably a pretty good start

the only reason not to get too drunk in singapore is that you'll end up broke. $200 on beer is not hard to do in a decent night, and they're used to very drunk ex-pats. But keep in mind that they are strict on drugs. The immigration forms put it well "Death to drug trafficers in singapore" and they mean it.
Zouk is a great club, expecially teamed up with phuture and velvet underground, something for everyone in the one place. but $12+ for a beer gets boring real fast, even if it is the best beer out there
Singapore and Kuala Lumpur seem to get a lot of good shows
Vicky Devine is playing Slinky @ Liquid, Singapore on 29 October. You should remember from a killer set she had on Nova 969 earlier this year, and she's also sending sets to ETS Global now, the first premieres this week.. but go check her out in Singapore if you can
