A trance cd for a friend

Im thinking of making one for a friend. I've decided to have plenty of vocals and songs that arent too 'techy or electronic' sounding- songs that should keep the average Top40 person interested(this person is into country, btw). And i know there are plenty of these kind of threads so dont say search. Comments or suggestions are welcomed- is there anything you would add/remove? Thanks.

I'll definetly do something like that if my friend likes trance and wants another cd. Country to trance is a big leap!

btw keep southern sun away from trance new comers, they will likely not like it, and if you are not feeling it the song is the most god awful thing on earth heh

As you can see, a mixture of genres represented throughout. I tried to keep the cheese down to a minimum and threw in a few good remixes of pop tunes for good measure. The person I burned this for is quite pleased with it too. Hope that helps. I suggest throwing as much vocal material that you can on...the majority of people listen to their music for vocals/lyrics so vocal mixes will ease them into material without vocals (remind them that most of the songs that have vocals will have a dub mix as well). Plus it will help get rid of the myth that "techno" consists of just noises and no words.

Throw in a mixture of genres then tell them to give you a list of what they like. From there you can narrow it down to what they're specific "sound" is. The CD above has ambient, techno, trance, progressive, drum & bass, classics, cheese and house on it.

Aha, the De Donatis mix is so much cheesier than the original. I actually like both mixes, but nobody would have taken the remix seriously if PvD hadn't played it. The difference is that De Donatis makes the song into a Lasgo-esque trancer (and it works fine, don't get me wrong) whereas the original was never meant to be trance. It's closer to synth pop if anything. Get Circ - Close Your Eyes, you'll hate that too.

No big deal, those are the classics of trance in my opinion. I wanted so bad to add Way Out West - Mindcircus (Gabriel & Dresden Remix)... but it's just too new to be a classic.
