q3 router problems
has anyone been able to get quake3 working when on a router?
well to be specific, me and my friend can't play on the SAME server when on the router. we can play on diff servers, however.
i've added +set net_port 27661 to my commandline, and my friend has done the same (with a diff port # of course..)
i've forwarded both those ports in the router config page...
whenever we enter a game, I (emphasis on ME...) always freeze after about 20secs. and this doesn't involve the game crashing; my computer just freezez. hardcore. i can't ctrl+alt+delete, the keyboard won't respond, the sound freezes, etc... i have to hit the reset button to reboot.
it's odd since i always freeze .. whether my friend or i connects to the server first; it doesn't make a difference.
anyone go thru this or kno a solution?

thanks :P
weird, when I host LANs everyone can play Q3 through the Win2k server routing I use (RRAS (NAT32), and not ICS). I have no idea how to help you other than +set net_port is not client side, but a server parameter to host sevral games on one IP number. Maybe disable firewall on your router if any, or try a google search of your router + quake 3
hmmm.... odd.
i've already tried googling for a solution, no luck .. hell, that's how i found that command parameter
would you happen to kno of a client-side command that i could at least TRY out?
client side commands i use are cl_maxpackets, rate, snaps, cl_timenudge, but none of those will help. Do a cvarlist in the console, and look through all the varibles, maybe you'll find something. You could also try posting help in other forums like PlanetQuake's or HomeLAN
