The Passion of Christ
What do you all think about the controversy regarding this film? For all who dont know about it, its being directed by Mel Gibson, a devout christian, and recalls the last 12 hours of Christ before his crucifiction. What is all this controversy about?
The Jewish community is accusing this film of negatively portraying Hebrew leaders of this time, that they were the ones responisible for his death, which was in vain according to the bible and to all christians.
What are your opinions? Should they censor this film or cut out beleifs that are shared by millions?
Apparently, the whole film is also in the exact language and dialect spoken at the time by Romans, no subtitles. It is also accurate to the tee. Gibson has taken a "cameron-esque" approach by obssesively bringing this time and world to life as specifically as possible.

Although i despise religion, i do very much love the art of filmmaking and its profound power in arousing emotions that i think other medians cannot do. I think this film, from the preview is pretty amazing.

I think its great, free speech is what keeps america free.
if it's spoken in the language the romans used at the time, it is probably alot more coherent to the average english speaker than the bible

Lightning strikes Jesus on Gibson's Christ film set
The actor who plays Jesus in Mel Gibson's film The Passion of Christ has escaped injury after being struck by lightning during filming.
The incident, in which The Rock and The Count of Monte Cristo star Jim Caviezel did not sustain an injury, is the second bolt to hit the set of the movie in Italy.
The film has drawn complaints from religious leaders. Jewish leaders say it suggests Jews were responsible for Christ's death. Conservative Catholics who have seen the film have called it a powerful rendering of the hours leading up to Christ's Crucifixion.
The crew was on a remote location a few hours from Rome when the storm occurred.
"I'm about a hundred feet away from them," producer Steve McEveety said, "when I glance over and see lightning coming out of Caviezel's ears."
Both Caviezel and his assistant director Michelini were struck. The main bolt hit Caviezel and one of its forks hit Michelini's umbrella.
Neither of the men sustained injuries in the incident.
Michelini has been nicknamed Lightning Boy after being struck twice by lightning during the filming in Italy. He had already suffered light burns on the tips of his fingers in an earlier incident during filming on a hilltop in the town of Matera.

i don't know whats the deal about christians saying that jews are risponsible of Jesus death... thats what I learned and every other orthodox kid.
Christ was said to be the new king of Jews, some of them didn't like that new king so they arranged his death with the Romans. bla bla bla bla... whats the big deal. Thats what happened. Jews never want anything negative being said about them, right or wrong. nothing new here.
If we consider bible a legitimate book for a while, then I don't see who else is to blame for the death of Jesus than the jews.
Except that it is proven that Jesus was killed by Romans....

If I believed in Santa, lots of Christmas films would probably upset me. That wouldn't constitute a legitimate gripe, though.

We are all responsible
Well there are two ways to look at the death of Christ. The physical way and the more symbolic, 'behind the lines' way. The physical way is that the Jewish leaders complained to the Romans about Jesus and wanted him killed. Pontious Pilate (Roman judge) told the crowd that he did not find Jesus guilty of anything, but the Jewish crowd insisted that He be put to death. And the Roman government put Him to death.
The symbolic reason is more important. We are ALL responsible for the death of Christ. Jesus died for our sins. Because of our sinful ways, God sent Him to pay the price instead of us. Instead of the world. Therefore, every human being is responsible for the death of Christ. Every Christian who is too quick to blame the Jews for Jesus' death should think twice.
I can't wait for the movie.
As far as I know, this is not been offensive to christians, but to the Jews that dont want to be portrayed or seen as the ones that killed Jesus. And since a great part of the Hollywood heads are jews. go Figure.. Either way, this movie is getting free propaganda and I wanna watch it.
