Holland, Netherlands and Deutchland, I am confused

I am confused, someone please elaborate

And this language, sounds like a mix between German, French and a hint of English. What's that? (yes, I finished high-school but still I didn't catch this)

When people here (USA) ask me where I am from...

obviously, I say Denmark.

I think Denmark doesn't exist in the American geog courses. You would not believe how many times I hear remarks like this:

"hey, I heard you're from Holland."

"hey, I heard you're Dutch."

"Ask the Dutch girl."

Holland - old provincial region of what is today's Netherlands and the name became stuck with it in the English language.

Netherlands - the official name of the nation.

Deutschland - German name for Germany.

Dutch or Netherlandic as a language is a confligration of German and English, maybe some Frisian with very different pronounciations from English and also very gluttoral in speech. A dutch G sounds nothing like G in English.

Hope this helps you man, I know all this as I speak English, French, German, Italian, Spanish and Dutch. So this debunks the Euro myth that all Americans can't speak other languages.

Dutch does sound like German in ways, But all languages have ties to each other.
