Monster Massive in LA

Just curious - anyone going to this?

Looks like I'll be staying an extra day in LA and going to this now instead of coming back up to SF for The Scumfrog and Sander K.

I know there's other things going in LA, but Monster Massive is pretty much my only choice considering the scenario I'm in.

Dave

MM, blah, after PVD the #2 DJ in the world, you just got to wonder what #1 DJ In The World sounds like, well, Dave, Let's go to Vegas for Tiesto and them VIVID Chicks. Sebby and I are taking off prolly a few hours after PVD and Bohnam at Mayan!

I went to MM last year, and it was cool to see thousands of people dressed up.... The way they set up the stages was great!!! Nice visuals... I met a guy that came from MExico city just to experience MM. But overall it was good. I missed Marco V at the Palace over Judge Jules and Richard Humpty Vission at MM. RHV was ok, but Jules did rocked the house... Specially when he dropped DAT FUCKED CAMERA!. Dayum, the whole place went nuts!!!! I'm talking the way over 5,000 people in the main stage!!!!

Enjoy!

I'm trying to go... do you think I'll be able to get tickets at the door?

Posted by DjWoody on Oct-27-2003 21:46:

you should be able to get them at the box office, but you will have to pay like $45 each. Plus around $10 for parking, unless you park right at the Sports Arena's lot. Just park on the Employee parking. They won't tell you anything. I hope!!! At least last year they didn't tell me anything!...

Posted by justin on Oct-27-2003 22:50:

cool but I was hoping to get tickets at the show cuz I dont get paid till that night.

I was there. Music was decent.

Overall, was puuuureeee comedy bliiisss...

If you are a candy raver, please die.....I mean, the candy ravers rolling are funny as hell to laugh at in all your piles and flashing pacifiers, but they all just look f'in retarded. (Note: We were literally laughing hard as hell out loud constantly throughout the night seeing how stupid candy ravers look.)

They are the reason there's so many problems between the government and the EDM scene. Stupid idiots are ruining the fun of those who know how to control themselves.

There was even like a 50 year old guy all decked out in candy raver stuff jumping all over the floor AFTER THE SHOW WAS OVER. It was hillllarrious.

MM was the first rave-like party I've been to since I turned 21 (note: I am now 24) and things are much much more retarded these days -- damn technology.

Anyhow, if you are a candy raver don't ever let me meet you as I swear I will fucking knock you out.if you aren't, then wella good person you be!

Roger Sanchez OWNED the night!/!??!?!?! Do you ever get out?

He sucked dude. He was the ONE reason, DJ wise, why I was looking forward to the music at MM...I had heard a lot about him but never really listened to him before...and he was horrible. He wrecked a A LOT, played very lacking tracks and other than the rollers in the front, he didn't have the crowd at all.

Again, he be bad bad bad.

Im 18 and I aint no candy raver but I sure enjoyed the night having them.

If you come to think of it they are part of the rave scene and you're gonna have to deal with it no matter what.

tough guy I guess you blew your chance last night then...the majority of the peepz there were candy ravers

btw...fuck the government!!

Posted by Tigo on Nov-02-2003 04:58:

uhh of course i get out dude....and Roger did OWN... i dont know what ur talkin about him not havinmg the crowd at all...the whole place was jumping when he was on.... he aint the #21 DJ for no reason man...his music was sick sick sick...and he droped a few dope tunes from the new Steve lawler set from ibiza 9-27-2003. everyone i talked to loved Rogers set over eveyone elses. i dont know how drunk u were but i was realy payin attention to his mixing and it was pretty damn good. well anyway...must go...girls are waiting

Aren't a candy raver? Then that message has nothing to do with you...so ignore it.

Uhhhh, I went to a lot of raves when I was under 21 and trust me, there are raves where people know how to control themselves.

Of course the majority of peeps were candy ravers......where else could they go where people wouldn't turn around and laugh them out?

Note that I have no problem with people rolling - it's the immaturity of the actions that a large portion of the people had. Most people who do roll out there actually know how to control themselves. They know how to have a good time. They know how to take in the music with it. And they alll do it without looking like a fucking idiot.

I am not one to judge person by what they intake. It's how they control themselves that makes me create an opinion.

And the people last night? They all looked retarded and need to be pushed off of a cliff.

If you were rolling and you felt you kept control and just enjoyed the music in the night, then that's cool. If you were acting dumb, laying in one of those piles getting a light show from those "hey look at me, I am cool cause I can give you a light show" peeps, then don't ever talk to me.

With the government, yeah...you say that while those of us who actually enjoy the music responsibly work on fighting with the government so we all can keep laws intact to a point where we can actually have events. So yeah, act immature and disregard them. Very smart, man.

In a rare case, I was actually completely sober.

Thank you,

Good night.

Dave

If the scene is too immature for you then I suggest you don't attend an all ages event.

Don't get me wrong I love trance to death and i am always @ the front to listen to the DJz spin sick tunes. But what is soo damn immature about getting a light show and maybe a lil massage while rolling?

Yes, i agree, some people did look like idiots but hey it doesnt bother me at all, i just minded my own business.

and about the government...I have my own opinions and that makes me immature??

Posted by Trancer85 on Nov-02-2003 05:31:

btw...LOLLLLL @ the guy who jumped on the stage and tapped the 2 fine dancers on the ass

Posted by DaveT on Nov-02-2003 06:59:

I went to the event because a good friend of mine wanted to go, and I told her I would take her.

I would ignore it, but it's kind of hard to when people are running over you to join the groups. It's immature that it's how they have to get their high at a music event. The music should be enough. It's just plane stupid.

With the government, you simply said fuck the government. There's no opinion expressed in that. So I have to try to guess what you mean by that and I take it is you mean fuck them and the laws they create. Fact is, no matter how much you said that it's not going to stop them. And saying that is certainly not the right state of mind one who wants to fight to get the entertainment field we love alive and kicking. The EDM scene has been beaten down over recent years, and your type of comment doesn't help. That's what I mean by it. Instead of saying "fuck the government," why not try to be more proactive in showing how the vast majority of the scene actually consists of responsible people.

With the babes....no no, the best part was the next to last girl on the right side when she came out with no panties on. That was great. And they didn't even notice for like 10-15 minutes. The eventually turned the spotlight that was on her off and when it came back on she had a pair of red panties on....She would try to sneak in a flash her or a flash there though untl she was done.

OK.... so I have a question to everyone that went.... What the fuck was that MONSTER MASSIVE in 3D thing they kept on hyping up on the flyers and their website? I didn't go but sure like to know what that was.....

ROGER SANCHEZ.... I havent seen the guy play since the last HOW SWEET IT IS back in 2001. But as I remember... Dayum he fucken rocked the crowd!!!!!

Other than Benni Benassi, there really wasn't anyone that got my attention on the line up. So I didn't go.... But it seems like it was fun.

MM was off the fuckin hook...I went to last year's also with Jules and RHV. I'm really glad to hear Jules is gonna be at TOA and RHV is expected to be there too. Should shat all over last years TOA (arman van helden threw shit at the fan last year). Roger Sanchez broke the house down last night many a times. His 2 hour set was flawless, i didnt' hear any mixing mistakes, and the way he drops the bass in the beginning of all his recs is sick! He threw a Sting remix, his own version of Tomcraft's Loneliness, Chili Peppers By The Way!, and David Guetta Just a Little More Love. Benny Benassi didnt disappoint either (despite what so many said). I believe he picked up the pace where Sanchez left off. Sanchez headlined and threw a good variety of recs, mostly house, and we needed some hard hitting shit after to complement, and Benassi did that perfectly. Although I didn't appreciate how he dubbed the lyrics of Satisfaction into like 2 other songs (he's already made millions off the fuckin song), he pumped the bass hard. He also played a remix of No Matter What You Do (illmatic) and closed with the radio version we all hate of Satisfaction (still sounded good on the equip). If anyone knows what he opened with (i'm pretty sure it's Tomcraft) i really need to know! The dancers were bangin, the 3d was lame, security was TIGHT, and they stopped selling water the last half hour!?! Overall it was still good...can't get over them dancers!
