Our favorite news network again in a truly Onion-esque story

Fox news threatens to sue ... FOX!

That sounds like when one local politician here sued himself for corruption. He was accused of it in the news, and then he sued himself to prove it was not true. Although in reality the state intended the same lawsuit, but he did it so that the state wouldn't have the time it planned to gather evidence against him.

That is great occrider

The funny thing is that no matter what Fox says they won't let Groening do, he does and gets away with doing even worse every time they complain. There wouldn;t even BE a Fox News Channel if it weren't for the fact that teh Simpsons kept the broadcast network from going under. Does anyone else remember the other programs on FOX back then? Of course not, it was a horrible horrible channel with the exception of the Simpsons.

Go Matt Groening!

I've got it on my comp at the moment, so I can give you the transcript at least. Krusty is running for congress with the Republicans and appears on a Fox News debate with the Democratic candidate:

News Presenter: Welcome to Fox News, your voice for evil. Tonight we'll be interviewing the top two candidates for Springfield's 24th Congressional district. For the Republicans, beloved children's entertainer Krusty the Clown. (Krusty appears on TV with a halo over his head.) And for the Democrats (*disapproving expression*)... this guy.

(Democratic candidate appears with with devil's horns and USSR flag superimposed.)

Democratic Candidate: I have a name!

NP: Yes I'm sure you do, comrade. I do appreciate your being here, you're usually so mired in sleaze that it must be an effort to come down to the studio.

Krusty: May I say something?

NP: Certainly, congressman.

(Split screen, Krusty on left, DC - now upside down - on right.)

DC: He hasn't won yet!

NP: You make a very adulterous point. We will now conclude this debate with a Krusty campaign commercial.

And the "news crawl" they're talking about that "might confuse some viewers" (Fox News watchers have some problems distinguishing between real life and fiction, by the sounds of it), says:

"Pointless news up 37 percent..... Do Democrats cause cancer? Find out at Foxnews.com..... Rupert Murdoch: Terrific Dancer..... Dow Down 5000 points..... Study: 92% of Democrats are gay...... JFK posthumously joins Republican Party..... Oil slicks found to keep baby seals young, supple..... Dan Quayle: Awesome...."

Classic.
