Is Australia a shit place 2 go vinyl shopping?

How do i figure?? I been asking around record stores in melb about "Andain - Beautiful things" and none of them have seemed to heard of it.... let alone have it... This is not the first time this has happened...

any of u had similar issue's?

Posted by muli on Oct-28-2003 03:24:

you will find each shop specialises in a certain style, unfortunatley most dont specialise in trance.

I bought beautiful things off juno should be on vinylwarning in a week or two!

Why don't you be a bit more resourceful and place an order for it?

Artist - Title - Label - CatNo

And your done.

Thats not the case im arguing here...

Being the tune it is, u would think some of these ppl would know about it, if its sold out i understand, but them not knowing about it???

Well if i told you the artist and song name "Philippe Van Mullem - Secret Folder"...would you be able to understand what song im talking about??? i don't think so, the point im trying to say is that not everyone is going to have a full based knowledge of electronica, sure we would love it if they did though.

Now Philippe is popular for some people, yet some people try to avoid learning about them (dunno why though)...just like some people towards other artists.

Now at One Stop Deejay about 7 months ago i told them if they had Capetown stuff, they said "Geh???"

I asked about solar coaster in one stop about april last year when I first heard it. Not only did they have no idea of the track, they were equally clueless when I said it was by solar stone same people who did seven cities. Never been back to one stop since.
All my local shopping is now done through spank, most helpful people you could ask for.

Posted by JayKuE on Oct-28-2003 06:11:

psygnosis has a valid point

if u havent noticed, trance isnt terribly the most popular genre in melb.

buy the essentials online.

i dont walk into record stores with anything in mind, if anything tickles my fancy, i'll get.

I think you'll find that the staff at One stop have a taste for the hard stuff. Their not very well informed about trance.

Haha...That's funny cos I saw Capetown - Pitstop in their $5 bin. Bargain. They obviously didn't know what it was so they didn't hand it to anybody. I like their system of handing you the records to you, but only when the person there really understands the genre you enjoy.

As people have said, they don't seem to buy much other than hard trance anymore, which is a shame.

Many thumbs up to vinylwarning. Reemo and Jules deserve to do well.

Spank are great for techno too.
