Tiesto + techno

K this is pure speculation on my part but does anyone think tiesto may be attempting to break into the techno world?

I know tiesto began attempting to spin bangin techno and was pretty much told to piss off by much of the scene, With his latest release of traffic which is a remake of an older techno tune and the more common appearance of techno tracks in his sets do you think tijs may be making a break for the techno scene.

If he does, I know he will have to do SOO much to gain even the least bit of respect by the techno fans of the world as far as a respectable act.

I HIGHLY doubt it. He's got nothing to gain by spinning techno, cause he couldn't DREAM of playing a proper techno set.

So true, haha I like the few techno tracks he has slipped in, but techno Scene hates him more than anything i have ever seen hated before in my life haa

Who exactly within the techno world is hating on Tiesto? The Dj's, producers or fans?

Posted by Pio on Oct-30-2003 03:25:

he's not trying to break into the techno world. he plays some techno (as well as prog, breaks, even acid etc. ) to diversify his sets by using it as a contrast tool and to widen his sonic palette, that's all. after the whole awakenings rejection fiasco he won't try to fuck with those people again. he has said after that that he is known and respected for melody, and that's the way he'll remain. a warm uplifting tech-trance dj.

Find a cluster of techno whores and say tiesto, not on this board but on a normal techno board, There are techno tracks out their called fuck trance, and techno addicts who would buy it and spin it just for the name haah. My friend recently went to a new music forum, didnt know it was a technohead forum, typed tiesto and had 60 flames in about 10 minutes haha, and since it is a small forum nuff said haha.

Producers i dont think really hate anyone openly lolz, but i would imagine there are plenty of techno folk on all levels that dislike tijs, as for the quote about tijs remaining uplifting dj then that clears anything up thanx.

Tiesto began to spin "BANGIN" techno?....when?......

Traffic is no more techno then Armani & Ghost - Airport is....

before tiesto had any residency, recognition or anything he was into bangin techno, this was back, way back, like the lyrics in that one gabber song lolz, i am talking in the days when he was handin out mixtapes jolz (at least this is what many people who were listening to electronic genres before tiesto began spinning tell me)

as for traffic the samples are from "psycofuk" by sean deason, says it right on the sleeve

He began spinning hardcore in clubs, when he was wandering aimelessly he spun bangin techno, The person who told me this said his mate actually told tiesto to "Stop buying shit" when he asked to spin at the club they were in, this is pre hardcore days i am talking here, I knew tiesto spun that aswell. As for traffic, i never said it was a techno track, i am saying he borrowed samples from techno, that his producing eye is on techno It is blatantly obvious it isnt techno, even saying tech trance is addint "tech" to it in my eyes haha, just view it more as hard dark trance. Tech trance gets in the likes of BXR, bit of a different sound and feel than traffic has, either way traffic is a quality song

And i know the difference between hardcore and techno, as i used to be into hardcore when i was younger. You are right big difference.

I dont care what your friend said....Tiesto played Hardcore then went to trance....thats a fact....he played hardcore at the sprock or whatever it was called....

Traffic is 100% tech-trance...hard dark trance?...no such genre ot subgenre.

K hard trance, then with a dark feel, and i have seen dark trance on a description for a genre, but subgenres are ass to sit and talk about any way, and from my info source he went, techno(preclub days) - hardcore - trance
Tech trance and hard trance are usually found hand in hand as far as genres, so either one fits for me, In actuallity genres are meant as a system to organise songs by description of sound i dont see why you are making such a fuss over which specific sub genre it is, it is one thing to say not techno trance, that is a world of difference, but going into not hard trance, tech trance is a waste of time,

Posted by chesco on Oct-30-2003 09:46:

you see the hassle picotto gets from "real techno" fans and he's always spun quite a large part of techno in his sets.

imagine if tiesto did this, he would lose all credability from trance fans and become the laughing stock of the techno scene.

its not going to happen
