car Audio q??
planning on buying 1 woofer for my car. of course looking for hard hitting bass instead of the deep bass. Mainly listen to electronica in my car.
was going for a kicker solo baric but got a good offer for a kicker compVR. Are compVR any good for what I want. are they worth getting??
Also debating on wether to get a 12'' or 10''. pro's cons??
any other suggestions??
the larger the cone the slower the hit, 10 or 12 will be able to handle electronica.
12s hit deeper and harder usually. if its same brand just bigger Id go with the 12. Other than that youll just have to test them out at a car audio place, some pull more watts but have a smaller frequency response. Youll need to see what hits deeper harder. Also, what kind of car? The subs are gonna sound different in a hatch than a trunk. do the seats flip down?
drive a 00' Accord coupe. no, seats don't flip down.
well I had heard 10's were better for trance cuz because they hit harder. and I also don't want my trunk vibrating>>(reason y i'm getting just one)

The thing about solos is that they need a lotta wattage to power them. If you don't want too much power try out some MTX stuff. I think 12's sound nice but I like that deep bassy sounds along with some hit capabilities.
so if ya don't want too much excessive noise I would try out something around 400-550 watt MTX 10".

Make sure whatever you get you put in a bandpass box, it makes the hits clearer.

I know solo Barics are good cause my homeboy has some in his ride and they sound great. was just wondering if any of you have tried the CompVR line of kicker woofers?? getting the Baric for about $100 and CompVR for $65 both new.. stats for CompVR Size: 12 inch Sensitivity: 86.4 dB Frequency Response: 25-500 Hz Recommended RMS Power: 400W Peak Power Handling: 800W Solo-Baric stats Size: 12 inch Sensitivity: 86.9 dB Frequency Response: 20-100 Hz Recommended RMS Power: 750W Peak Power Handling: 1500W Impedance: Dual 4 ohms so orbax your saying just to go w/ 12 since I will only be getting one?? |

I'd recommend the Alpine Type R 1041D (300W RMS, 1000w peak, dual 4 ohm voice coils) 10"s are lighter and will react faster to the music so the beat will be reproduced more accurately. However, if u want bass to hit hard and low, eg in DnB and Hip hop, a 12" or larger will be more satisfiying, as they can move more air. subs i'd recommend for trance are the Alpine, Sony 10" Pentagon, RF Punch and any JL sub up to W3. Amps to power them would be Alpine MRD-300 (300W RMS x1), Sony XM2165GTX (400W rms x1, also 2ohm stable) |
the compVR range are Kickers budget range, so they'll do the job, but don't try and push them to the max!
I see you're able to get solo barics for 100 dollars, u wanna send a couple my way

100 dollars + Shipping for a 10" SOlo Baric (is it an L7 or L5?) either way its all good
let me find out how much itwill cost top ship a 20kg speaker
seriously though, i will
Its not worth putting the Solo in for yourself, cos you will still need a very good amp to push it the way you want. If you underpower it, it will try and work hard when you crank it up, but you will get a lot of distortion as the sub tries to recreate what its been told to do, but is unable to, as it is insufficiently powered. You will fry its voice coils
I have 2 10's, lemme tell ya trance/house sounds incredible... although I have the bass on the lowest setting 97% of the time...really powerful
Kickers are excellent for riced out Hondas listening to rap
