A solution to America's problems

You wanna a real soultion to your problems...although I most surely will get laughed at for this one...his name is Ralph Nader..

I'm goind to end this other non-snese becasue my main point in that America has alot of problems. More so than any other deveoped nation. You want me to sit here and list all the problems with facts ..well that is going to be easy but you see you don;t realize that unlike most of America the rest of the world knows what's going on in this world. Do you want me to list the amount of needles nuclear weapons, or your insufficent helath care, education systems, death penalty policy,....I can go into all of this but you just aren't listening. I said the world isn't perfect but America leads the charge and should be doing a more for such a developed country. When there is so much going wrong you have to start looking at yourselves and stop saying that it's not just us...You are leading the charge...it has to start with you...You want me to debate samll issues...the bis issues everyone knows about and that's what matters.

You Sit here and debate and debate but nothing is being done. YOu bring up these little facts that really don;t mean anything. You are in denail for the most part and always have an exuse for something. You ask me of solutions . Get Ralph Nader into power. Besides that you have no solutions. I know you can't blame some of the American people. The government control everything and the only way to change it is get into the government and the only way to do that is to have $$$.

By the way I don;t teach College you don;t have to worry but if I did I would never say anything to the sort. And I don't talk about with my students ebcasue I believe they can form their own opinion. Plus they are only 3 years old during the day actually I teach adults at night but it's Business English. I am an english teacher. You'll be happy to know that this is my last post here...back to the music. Why I came here because nothing is going to change you so why bother.

dude, everyone here will admit that there is room for improvement in the US, for each topic there is an oposing view on how to make it better or more efficient. that is the function of humanity, to better ourselves. That is the point of debate, to learn the different view points, to form our opinions from these opposing ideas - the dialectic principle

What i dont get is your spite agianst the US

who are you to be in a position to say that the US has the most problems in the developed world? your posts come off as being very arrogant and overly judgemantal, not to mention you give off the impression that you are not here to learn but to preach - unaccepting of other's opions. you will notice people are a lot more responsive and less defensive to your views if you start presenting yourself with less aggresive posts and blanket statements

I know exactly the way I come off and I know people are more responsive when things are presented ina better manner . But again you are not lsitening to what I am saying becasue what I am saying is that AMERICAN IS NOT LISTENING !! You are not learning either. The point of debating is usless. And who am I to that America has the most problems of a developed nation?? It's not just me and I have every right to say that. Just as you have every right to go invade Iraq...to start with. I mean occrider i fear the day you ever become an elected offical in the US ...how old are you 23 and you already sound like the way you do???

quote:

You have bigger problems to debate than this....That is the problem you sit and debate and talk about things that maybe have some sort of importance on a small scale while let the bigger problems build and build.

So let me get this straight you admist there is a problem in your country...not a small one but a big one.....and not just one but many....So if a country like Iraq has many problems and it's ok for the US to go in and mess up the country more?? The only reason the US picked Iraq is becasue they think it is an easy target and they would make out in the long run by have their American companies in there getting most of the contracts. Aslo have access to the oil becasue you don;t have any...what else oh yes and the military equipment that the new Iraqi army willl soon need that they will buy off the US. The US wants to free the Iraqi people ??? For one thing not everyone in this world wants what america wants...but as always they try and ram it down their thoat.

It's just like the playground....The US is the world bully..and they won;t pick on anyone their own size....Why not pick on China becasue of it's human rights abuses??? What about tienaman square? What did the US do there absolutly nothing...Why?? becasue they know they couldn't just go into China. China is terrible too...What they don;t go and invade others ? Tell that to Tibet and the Dahli Lama.

You see I can bring up stupid facts up over and over again . I'm here to say that your debates are weak and meaningless for the most. I use to read them for a long time before saying anything. But for the most part this is a Joke . And you sitting here debating your petty issues in America while things are are going in the shitter is just stupid. You are right I am mad and I'm not here to deabte. I am here to tell it like it is!

If i just started spouting out anti-canadian generalizations, you would certainly want to "debate" with me as well. The people on this forum are not sheep.

keep in mind: this is not what all americans wanted. You make it seem as if the whole country wanted that war to happen. this is not true.

Go ahead make generalizations about Canada.....the fact is you have alot more problems defending your governement policies than I do.
Again you are not listening..it's not just the Iraq war...it's the many wars and invasions before. Nothing changes in your country.! That is it that is the point here! And nothing is being done about it..What can you say about about Canada? It's not even close to being like the US..you Americans think it is but it's not

Posted by 2hardcore4u on Oct-31-2003 05:45:

I know the first step in a situtaion is denail. Ok you have to admidt that you have many problems only then can you begin the recovery process. You keep saying it is a place for intelligent debate. I see no eveidence of intelligent debate at all. You like to think that you are debating intelligent things here but for the most part you are not. I'm not talking about everything. You cannot see.....it's surprising whenever I have visted the states with my family or friends just the level of arrogance with everyone that walks aropund..you can;t see it becasue you don;t think it's there. And I live in Bsnff and we have thousands oif tour every months from teh US and it is just insane how arrogant americans are when they come here and how stupid they act and how little they know...most of them ask how far north till we get to a city of Igloos and they are serious. I knwo not all of you are that stupid but there is a lot and that makes it a problem and one that needs to be addressed in you education and politics and business practices!

Posted by 2hardcore4u on Oct-31-2003 06:00:

And another thing.....make some gerneralizations nico about Canada and look into. Then amybe you'll learn something about our country and how we tend to act becasue probably unlike you I know what's going on in your country. That's another problem most of you don;t kno wwhat's going on in other countries let alone your own.

So present them in a better manner if your goal is to affect change. Otherwise youre merely trolling.

But again, you are not listening to what I am saying because what I am saying is that AMERICA IS NOT LISTENING!! You are not learning either.

You are generalizing and insulting others once again. I suggest you behave in a civilized manner

If the point of debating is useless than I would have to say that once again that you are in the wrong forum

Occrider, I fear the day you ever become an elected official in the US. How old are you 23, and you already sound like the way you do???

And youre 28 according to your profile amazing is this another indicator of intelligence? Despite the age factor, however, Im still vastly intelligent because of my travel experiences right (how did you become so intelligent after only 2 years of travel . It must be because of the age factor)? And I dont doubt that many would be afraid were I to ever assume office, Im libertarian so I would imagine I would scare the bejeesus out of both republicans and democrats.

Yes well, Im sure youre aware of us Americans and that whole freedom of speech thingy. I agree, I keep pushing legislatures to curtail speech to only discuss the big issues especially on tranceaddict, I constantly beg swamper to limit discussion and thought to issues that are only pertinent to Trance.

quote:

So let me get this straight, you admit there is a problem in your country, not a small one but a big one, and not just one but many? So if a country like Iraq has many problems it's ok for the US to go in and mess up the country more??

If 1 + 1 + 5,546,646 = 2 than yes.

quote:

The only reason the US picked Iraq is because they think it is an easy target and they would prosper in the long run by having their American companies getting most of the contracts. Also they have access to the oil because you dont have any.

Well, at least you were somewhat right about that easy target bit. However, were making money? $87 billion what? And oil? Last I checked, Iraq was importing oil.

quote:

What else? Oh yes, and the military equipment that the new Iraqi army will soon need to buy off the US. The US wants to free the Iraqi people??? For one thing, not everyone in this world wants what America wants, but as always they try and ram it down their throat.

If the US is granting Iraq money instead of loaning it in light of its outstanding debts, how is the US expecting Iraq to purchase military equipment? Its simply ludicrous. Furthermore, ************ of the legality/justification of what got us there, freedom is what the majority IRAQIS wanted according to the latest polls.

Sigh . people still adhere to cookie cutter/tit-for-tat diplomacy nowadays?

Alright people thats a wrap! All your time and intellectual input was very much appreciated on tranceaddict, however, trivial debates shall no longer be tolerated. Hardcore whatever-your-name-is, your civic duty does not go unappreciated keep up the good work of keeping us in check.

I just wanted to address one issue here;

pointless debate. And indeed we all must concede we are pointlessly debating here. I have changed peoples views on somethings (perhaps that the Romans had the gauls invade them alongside the goths ) and other people have changed my view on many things here as well (I know like bagdahd bob for one). The net effect of this of course will probably be zero as well. So what, we change a few opinions here and there right? What's it all going to end in, probably nothing or very little on the world we live in.

But if you take that approach, whats the point of life? Your life will probably be meaningless and have no effect on the bearing of the earth. And lets say you become some rich and powerful very important leader. You are written about in all histories, so what have you done now? Who will remember you in 2000 years from now when all your work has been lost and made to dust? It doesn't matter, might as well just quit living now right...?

Well those that take the latter approach to life, probably take the same point to debate.

The secret to life is living it, debate is a part of living life. I debate here to practice my debating skills, to learn from other peoples views, to feel happy (and superior) at times, and to spend away many hours from my real responsibilities like homework.

So is the debate here completely meaningless, yes. But then again all debate is meaningless it is the perspective we look at it through. So what, we change the US president, your nader gets into control.. so what, will that change my life? Probably not, will it change yours, unlikely. Don't take such a cynical view.

Learn to enjoy and express.

I'm not sure about this one, Asterix and Obelix did live 2000 years ago, and yet their adventures are still quite popular.

Hardcore, your posts in here are a lot like mine...full of opinions with no real substance. I honestly think if everyone's posts were like yours and mine, the political forum would be a boring place. You'd spout your opinion, I'd spout mine...all we'd end up with is I'd know what you think. You'd know what I think. We could go back and forth without getting anywhere.

You say you are "here to tell it like it is." Support your opinions. Give us substance. Provoke thought. Teach me. I listen. I want to learn. I personally don't have the ability (maybe not the knowledge) to participate in most of these discussions but I read them and on occasion even pull out a map or look further into something that I find interesting.

There's nothing wrong I suppose with inserting an opinion here and there (I do it) but if you actually expect to discuss problems and potential solutions, I think you (and I and others like us) need to offer more than emotionally charged generalizations.

They are emotionally charged. But provoking thought isn't changing the way most people think. I just stated an opnion and I said there is not point in me deabting this becasue it doesn't change America. Debate has gone for years . The fact is the people who need to be convinced won't be convinced ever ( america ) ,...becasue that is they way they are. I'm here to rattle some cages becasue that's the only thing that can be done ! The only thing sadly the US govenment understands is using force!

As i said in the other thread, US has a lot of problems to deal with. And the biggest problem is that you don't realize that they are big problems for you (as 2hardcore4u said...). Like environmental issues, poor people, death penalty etc. You (at least the polticians) don't really care as much as you should. No country is perfect but US (as the most powerful country in this world) should be a good example not a bad example of how a country should work.

I think the solution to this is to send everyone in US to scandinavia and see how our political system works

And the media always lies about everything it reports on. In actuality everything is going so well in Baghdad that it has become a utopian paradise of people dancing together, getting along, and rejoicing over their newfound wealth. You see how easy it is to make unsupported statements? Here's gallup's polling methadology if you would like to critique it:

No, do you even know what cookie-cutter diplomacy IS? If America did practice cookie-cutter diplomacy you would see cases of the US going to war with N. Korea and China.

Who doesn't realise this? There's a reason why there's a huge split between the dems and the repubs in congress and outside of congress.

But at any rate I half agree ... political system yes, economic system no

They operate cookie cutter policy when it is convient to them ..They dont go to war with china and Korea becasue it's would be a disaster if they did. And if they go to war with korea that is the same to going to war with China. Like I said before they only go after easy targers.
