Shooting outside Blake trial

For those of you who haven't seen it yet.

Not that I would've done any differently, but the amount of people just watching and not doing anything is pretty astounding.

The shooter reminds me of Milton in office space.

They did do something. He was tackled and brought down.

That shooter has to be the biggest idiot ever for shooting someone in front of a million TV cameras.

Even President Bush the elder tore up his NRA membership card in disgust at their slimey tactics. But as much as I hate the NRA for their support of right-wing extremist candidates, I find it hypocritical that the people opposed to the proliferation of concealed carry handgun permits oftentimes have a permit themselves or have some form of private or government-funded security protecting them. A thug bent on arming him or herself is probably going to obtain a weapon by any means neccessary, and I think for the most part those seeking CCW are law abiding citizens. I know for a fact though that mentally ill people have been issued permits in states such as Florida and Texas. I'll have to look up some more stuff later...

Also, assuming someone other than the lawyer being shot at was carrying a concealed weapon, to obtain a CCW it's usually emphasised that the right to carry a concealed weapon is for ones' own protection, and not to dispense ones' own brand of vigilante justice.

This is one issue where I lean towards siding with the conservatives, but am still officially undecided as I've not done enough research on the issue.
